One thing I noticed at least for arena is that it seems under high load (read: Monday evening) the servers seem to take a dump almost weekly. We play a few games and all of a sudden the queue times shoot up to 20 minutes. We have people of the same rating standing next to us looking for a game, and we don't get matched. And there are next to no games going on judging by the arena numbers we got. After a while the servers recover and queue times go back to seconds. This seems to occur every Monday.
This of course has nothing to do with BG matchmaking but maybe there are similar issues.
