The predominant priest build is 28/33 or a variation thereof. The reasons are simple. You need improved mana burn. Period. It is one of the best PvP talents in the game. You also need all the defensive talents you can get, because odds are you will be focus fired. Combine that with the fact that the high-end single-point talents in holy and discipline are crap and your choices of build are pretty much made for you. Deep holy or deep discipline builds do not perform nearly as well in arena because each is missing some key talents without getting much in return.

Such a build would not be optimal for raiding, but you can probably get by if you are skilled and your guild is not too hardcore.
