Rogue Raid DPS: +hit "negligible"?

I have a question - I've read a great deal lately about rogue raid dps in an effort to raise the guild's dps against some of the enrage timer bosses. Our guild has never been in naxx and we've just entered into SSC following, since Gruul's is on farm and Mag is close to going down.

Anyway, we've been talking about the importance of +hit - I've gone from 134 to 265 +hit and I know my dps has gone up.

So, I was talking to some of the other rogues, and using the rogue dps spreadsheet to see how they might improve their dps through upping their +hit (one rogue was as low as 96 and raiding).

Another rogue stepped in and said:

+hit is max at around 25%. You do NOT need to max this out to remain constant on DPS. Like I said, gear for rogues is +hit heavy. You shouldn't need to put +hit gems on there unless you want to really go for overkill. I wasn't missing trash at ALL with 18% and even if I was missing 3% of the time on bosses, I was losing more damage from glancing blows. Do not sacrifice other stats for +hit. It is negligible, I promise you.
So now the guild rogues are torn b/w the importance of +hit - so rather than go back and forth among ourselves, I thought I'd post here to get some feedback from people who know more about the class than I do.
