From various threads, I've read that it's either no longer possible since patch 2.xx or there's some mod that taints the raid frames and makes it impossible to switch groups in combat.

I had the same issue with not being able to bring up the Social window during combat in a raid environment and discovered it was because of the mod MoveAnything. Disabling it allows me to open the social window in raid combat.
