I tried bear boss yesterday with a surprisingly facile PTR pug.
He basically has two phases: troll and bear. He alternates between these, it seems every 5%? Not sure though.
He hits harder in bear but also seems to take more damage.
- Brutal Swipe - 11k hit on plate (seems random) Only saw this in troll.
- He will also Mangle players, increasing bleeds by 100%. He does this in both forms (? I think ?).
- Lacerate -- only saw this in bear, applies a bleed
- Rend Flesh -- only saw this in bear, also a bleed I think
Strat my pug PTR group came up with was to alternate tanks, giving one the mangles and one the bleeds, so that no tank ever was mangled and bleeding at the same time (that would be death for that tank, 4k bleed ticks each from Lacerate and RF). We managed to get him down to 85%. He does leash, but after a while (an hour? 45m?) trash respawns and you have to reclear the trash up to him (2-3 pulls). Note: when walking up to him you see him behind his trash, so when trash respawns it will appear he disappeared -- he didn't, he just went down to the first wave of trash.
I am geared with T4 loot (buffed 17k hp, 20% dodge) and felt like I was getting hit really hard, as was our bear druid. The 3 healers we had in our group noted that they would have mana issues if we continued as we were down to 100%.
Not sure if we were missing something or if he's just not quite perfectly tuned. General chat in ZA seemed to think he was a joke, but that may have been people just spouting off random stuff or BT geared guilds tearing through the instance (think BWL guilds in ZG).
My question here is whether I'm undergeared for this having only done T4... I felt like I was getting hit REALLY hard. What is the target gear level needed to tank bear boss? I had 17k hp and our druid had 19k and we both went splat when our healers got AoE silenced :-/
Also, when does bear boss silence? is it random? Triggered?
Still also trying to figure out what makes him change phases.
