Perhaps obvious, but the most important thing to me is planning and preparation. Spend at least a few weeks checking the AH for gear before actually leveling an alt so you have all relevant rare boes and good greens for the foreseeable future. I find this especially critical for casters as [Enter Type] Wrath-greens are (or were until the 2.3 instance loot changes, at least) the only items that you can possibly get for most slots that at all do anything to help you level.
Unfortunately for you Druid may be the least twinkable class in the game, unless you count grouping with a warrior or warlock twink who does most of your killing while you heal.
