When he splits, it is better to kill the spirit cat rather than the main boss. This is because the cat has about half the health of the main boss.

Out guild started a set of raids this week to get people a bear mount, and succeeded on the first go, with a wipe even I believe.
Strategy used on Lynx was as followed:
Halazzi:
Firian tanks.
Arjuna offtanks - tanks Lynx Spirit.
Kill Totems during phase2 - priority 1.
Burn down TROLL SHAMAN FORM during phase2 - priority 2.
Offtank the Lynx Spirit and leave him untouched. Tank him far away from Troll so he doesn't use Bestial Rage.
Spread out to minimize raid damage from totems.
Cleanse Flame Shock.
Casters stay max range from Troll to avoid getting Earth Shocked.
Why DPS troll and not the Lynx Spirit?
The Troll has ~245k HP and the Lynx has ~200k HP.
However, when the troll-form reaches 20% they merge (so we have to burn down ~200k hp) and when the Lynx reaches 10% they merge (so we have to burn ~180k).
BUT!
The troll form has a *lot* less armor than the Lynx. Since we have 3 melee DPS, burning down the troll form is the better choice.
