I think the SMI is something that deserves a permanent space in your pack. As far as the Commendation goes, it's a bit more situational, as is the Pocket Watch.
For example on Kalecgos the Commendation is probably a great trinket to use - you take tons of unavoidable damage, and the extra dodge is useful when/if it procs.
On comparison, the one-use of the Pocket Watch is great for a fight like Archimonde and Azgalor. Proactive/reactive use to bad fears etc. is pretty strong.
