Another story
I'm not trying to fill the post with rhetoric by any means but my story may have some relevance. I played horde Kil'jaeden since Release, as did my Girlfriend, and two other people I know (another couple). Our guild died on kael/vashj (trendy). It was due to several different things which are irrelevant. I started leveling an alliance character in december (2007) very casually due to the holidays. As did the other 3 people. By early-mid January we were all 70 finally with the garbage quest reward gear 70 dungeon items, and crafted gear. On january 28th 2008 myself and the other people created this guild with the help, I might add, of 6 or so gold spammers in Stormwind City. We're now 4/5 hyjal and 6/9 BT
The availability of gear is absolutely amazing from a tanking perspective. On that note I don't think we would have faired as well if we picked up a tank on the way. Not trying to toot my own horn but it's a position that seems to be the make/break point for progression moreso than other positions at least from my perspective. We picked up alot of window lickers/keyboard turning and helped craft them into excellent caliber players.
Entry into sunwell it seems will be another ordeal all together. I'm not going to comment on that as we've not progressed that far yet.
