The shield isn't unique, I'd suggest buying a few of them if you're going to be doing that very often.

I don't really think Blizzard can do anything about it, unless they create some sort of mechanism to divide xp only based on the damage done during a fight, which means healing classes get an extra punishment if their dps dies and someone comes in and helps save them. If they do something specifically for inside of an instance, you can still do this trick outside of the instance. Sure, it won't be as much XP, but still doable.

I actually think power leveling should be encouraged: as a game gets older, being able to bring in a friend and get them up to speed rapidly becomes more and more important. I remember trying to get friends to play EQ, but when they realized how much time they needed to spend they just stayed with Diablo 2 or whatever else they were playing.

If Blizzard comes up with a useful Sidekick method, it defeats the reason to power level someone, which makes it even sillier for Blizzard to care.
