I believe that *is* how it works, and that's now, *after* it has been fixed. Before, it would reroll for what was inside a container whenever the server reset, leading to people checking their shattered sun supplies, and hoarding any that didn't have a badge in them (until after a reset, where they'd get another shot). It was fixed so that once you saw what was inside the container, that's what you would get, whether you actually looted it immediately or waited a month for it.
