At level 63ish I was having trouble using the portals in Shattrath to IF, SW etc. Sometimes they worked okay, sometimes they didn't. Looking on the forums & the technical help section of the official WoW site, I deduced that it was most likely a broken add on causing the issue after a patch, so I deleted and reinstalled all of them - along with the WTF and Cache folders. They still didn't work properly so I went through the whole process again - whilst bleating to my guildmates about what a pile of shite Blizzard were & why the f**k couldn't they get things right etc. Once again, things still didn't work properly so I ended up giving up on it for a while and just flying to HFP and traipsing through the Dark Portal whenever I wanted to go to back to Azeroth.
This probably went on for a month or so - until one day in Shattrath I happened to notice that rather than there being only 3 or 4 portals, there was actually 6 or 8. Further investigation revealed that some were coloured red and some were coloured blue. Yet more investigation revealed that in fact the portals always work fine - it's just a case of making sure you don't try and click on a Horde portal if you're an Alliance player.
