Single cores cant record in resolution higher than 800*600 if i remember right.
So if you have gem res above 800*600 but lower than 1600*1200 it will record half-size 640*480. Solution is either to play 800*600 and record full size or 1600*1200 half-size

In lates version, you can record with higher resolutions.
