Just because a paladin isn't casting the big heals doesn't mean they're riding through content on someone else's work. A druid is just as capable of dealing with the predictable spike damage that Black Temple has to offer as a paladin is. Letting the paladin sit back and provide a steady stream of hps via Flash of Light while the druid covers spike is no different than having the paladin account for spike.
It's not laziness; it's just a different way of handling assignments.
