I would probably not suggest Nightfall for alliance. As Horde, here are my win percents in the BGs.
WSG: 75% (36-12)
AB: 67% (38-19)
AV: 57% (117-90)
EOTS: 64% (42-24)
The AV ratio has been drifting down over time. Most of those were solo queues or played with 1-2 friends at most.
The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side even if someone truthfully says it is. The two strongest predictors or BG success are how many healers your side has and how many geared people it has. If you're showing up in pve greens and blues, you're dragging your team down. There's nothing you can really do about that except accept your win/loss ratio is going to be worse because you're there.

My gear is more than up to par for BGs purposes but I completely agree with your statement (I am full season 2, Brutal gloves, Vengeful pieces and all purple). Ruin alliance does not have healers and all of the games have extremely under geared players. I had an AB game over the weekend with 9 healing classes, 2 of them were spec'd for healing.
I've been queueing Eye, AB and AV as my routine. I'll take the eye or AB, check gear/healers and join the other queue if it looks bad. Most of the time the next game is just as bad and I'll take AV when it pops.
I'm not trying to turn this into a rant about my perspective, if other people have luck in this group, more power to you. I am looking for other options and any input is appreciated.
