Gem Selection is pretty straight forward for Elemental. You mainly focus on Spell Dmg, and Crit on the lower end gear level. When you start to reach the higher end gear then you start balancing Spell Haste, and Spell Dmg. But there is also a point where Spell Dmg should be considered again over Haste on the top end of our gear.

I personally would only Gem the ones above. Keep in mind you only need to run with 2x Glowing Shadowsong Amethyst because of the Meta Gem requirement. And when the Epic gems are 15 badges, I'd rather do heroics/kara for badges then spend gold on the other gems.
Other things that can help your charactor out, is Leatherworking, and Enchanting. Having the extra 24 Spell Dmg to rings is nice, and being able to rely on atleast 25% uptime on Drums of Battle is a nice boost to your group and your Dmg/Utility in a raid setting.
