Hotfixes after first night of 4.0.1 Patch, and GotEM
As many people have noticed by now, a number of hotfixes went in after the first night or two of 4.0 raiding, to adjust the wildly disparate DPS values of some classes. I spent a long time last night retesting essentially all of the Balance spells to see how they'd been affected. Here are the results:
--Insect Swarm base damage and coefficient reduced by 50% (122 base damage per tick, 0.13 coefficient). This one many people noticed right away.
--The other big one: Moonfury is now giving only a 15% bonus to most spells. To every spell in fact, except for IS and the MF DoT.
--Also Moonfury is stacking additively with all other additive buffs (Glyph of IS, Glyph of MF, Gale Winds, Blessing of the Grove, probably Glyph of Wrath and Glyph of Focus as well). Not sure if this is new, I may have just missed it before.
--I heard reports of a Thorns nerf, but I'm not seeing any evidence of that. 0.421 coefficient seems fine. I think people were confusing this with the reported changes on the beta.
--Typhoon coefficient seems to be up to 0.126.
--Sunfire is now affected by haste, but is still on a 3 second base tick period.
--Sunfire does identical damage to Moonfire and is affected by the same buffs. I've a seen a lot of comments on this so I want to clarify.
You should be able to verify all these if you want, but they predict my damage on live perfectly. A new spreadsheet will be shortly attached to the guide which includes all of these changes.
------------
One of the theorycraft mysteries for Resto Druids so far is how the Gift of the Earthmother proc is computed and what buffs it takes into account. I finally tested this thoroughly. It wound up taking forever, since it turns out there are multiple cross-cutting bugs (or at least unexpected behaviors) that I had to isolate. Here are the results:
--Blessing of the Grove affects the proc.
--Glyph of Rejuvenation not dot affect the proc.
--Symbiosis never affects the proc (bug?).
--Here's where it gets weird. The proc gets a 25% buff for each 25% haste you have. This buff is not continuous, it stairsteps at each 25% haste increment. This is clearly meant to account for increased Rejuv ticks as you get more haste, but note that it does so incorrectly. In actuality, you get added Rejuv ticks at (25n + 12.5)% haste increments, but the GotEM computation adds "ticks" at (25n)% increments.
--The buffs "ceilings" to the next 25% haste increment. So at precisely 0% it gives 4 ticks worth. As soon as you get above 0 haste, it gives 5 ticks. At 25% haste, it gives 6 ticks. This is only significant because it drove me completely up the wall while testing until I figured it out, since I was frequently testing in a naked gear setup.
--Finally, the proc scales in a buggy way with Improved Rejuvenation. At 0/3 or 1/3 IR, there is no effect. At 2/3, IR gives a 14% (no idea why) buff, additive with Gift of Nature and Blessing of the Grove. At 3/3, that buff is instead 7% (again, don't ask me why it goes down).
As above, feel free to verify these things, but the resulting formula precisely predicts my GotEM proc on live. Spreadsheet reflecting this will be on the Resto thread shortly.
While I'm talking about Gift of the Earthmother, I should note that the abuse of the [edit] Nature's Ward/Gift of the Earthmother interaction has already been fixed. Nature's Ward now has an ICD.

Good work. Is Moonfury still 25% for the two DoTs?
I think you meant Nature's Ward, not Nature's cure. I've heard people say NW has about a 6s cooldown, and also doesn't proc until ~30% health rather than 50%. GotEM deserves a bug report. Here's hoping you do that. Edit: Narkenian on the US Blizzard Druid forum reported balance numbers that are a pretty good fit for your results. His roots (I suspect you didn't test these) were also unchanged. |

Roots doesn't seem to be affected by Moonfury anyway, probably a bug. Since Moonfury behaves like a set of single-spells buffs now instead of a +% school damage buff (it's additive and affects different spells differently), they probably just forgot to include it.
Arguably the same applies to Thorns as well. |

Update here: just tested, Thorns is actually affected by Moonfury, and it too went from 25% to 15%.
