Cataclysm Beta Raid Testing, 10/17 and 10/18

Posted 10/19/10 at 1:20 PM by Hamlet
With 9 others from my guild, I went and killed 5 bosses that were open for beta testing over the past two days. I did them all as Resto. I will try to get longer comments out at some point, but, here's a video of one of the more fun fights:
YouTube - Cataclysm Raid Test: Bastion of Twilight, Twin Dragons

Very briefly:
--Still healing almost entirely with HoT's and instants.
--But mana is a factor. You can see me pacing myself through the fight.
--There's a lot more thought than there is currently. The key fact isn't that Rejuv is used often, it's that you have think about whom you're casting it on because you can't literally just throw it out over the whole raid.
--On this particular fight, Efflorescence is pretty nice. There were some others where I got to make heavy use of it too. Here it was almost 20% of overall healing, and will be much higher in 25-man.
--The rest of the healing was a roughly even split between WG/Rejuv/Lifebloom.

I saw pretty much the same thing in 25 man. Holy paladins dominated even more so than normal on the twin dragon fight. One pali had holy radiance account for 70% of his total healing.

Constant raid damage + movement required during later phases makes ground aoe healing weaker, but since holy radiance follows the paladin as they move it is extremely potent on this fight.
