WoW perspectives from a slow reflex, highly stubborn insomniac...
This blog is intended as an experimental chronicle of one man's experience as a late-bloomer WoW player. Hopefully some utility will trickle for someone else as well.

Intro: the who and the why

This blog is intended as a recount of some of my highly subjective experiences as a late-bloomer WoW player (with a hopeful dash of positive advice for peeps with similar attitudes, even if we are an "up the devil's rear end" minority of the populace).
I came into WoW last year, having always preferred solitary forms of entertainment (turn-based strategy games, role-playing and above all reading) but finding them unable to alleviate my late night sleep and intestinal problems.
At heart I'm a lazy builder type, preferring to find optimal easy-to-sustain solutions and then watching them execute. I hate deviating from plans and generally have what my erstwhile analyst described as "gluelike mind" which means once I get into an idea I tend to stay and stay... and stay with it, until the cows come home. Not a winning combination for more advanced PvE or PvP experience.
Despite some of the above drawbacks, I stuck to my mage toon (Rhymer) through levelling, a rather abysmal PUG experience until some late-TBC raiding experience and present day WotLK.
In the process, I ended picking up and growing fond of some experiences with dual-boxing, picked up a couple of addons and even waded briefly into a bit of easy mode theorycraft (ie. Rawr usage), all in order to cope with my slow reflexes and a stubborn tendency to mash just one or two buttons on autopilot.
