Cataclysm Wish List: Small, fast deathmatch battleground, Decent Honor

As soon as you read the title you will probably think (to quote Xi) "You mean arenas fuck wad." Which is not a wish or want of mine. I've played my fair share of arena and it got very old, very quick. Sadly I have more fun doing organized BGs than obtaining the 2 Gladiator titles that my priest carries. I'm personally all about community and improving the WoW player base. What I would enjoy would be a Deathmatch battleground that would be fast, last maybe 10 minutes or so with terrain, obstacles and the use of land mounts. Where the only point is to kill each other. This would encourage people to stay grouped up, heal, use CC and actually learn how to PvP (discourage soloing). While you wouldn't really have vent and couldn't swap players to kill without spamming BG chat I really would enjoy something like that.

Spawn in, run to the middle and fight. Maybe include a branch off the LFG system where you would queue with 3 Healers and 7 DPS or something as to not make fights too crazy. Each person would have 3 lives and the games would last ten minutes. The team with the most kills (or with the last players standing) would get most of the honor where the losing team would little to no honor. Which would encourage participation and discourage AFKing (which probably would still happen).

Currently none of the current BGs really encourage PvPing as opposed to controlling something (Flag/Node/Territory) or killing a boss/touching a relic (Isle/AV/Strand). What is the number one complaint in these BGs? "Killing blows don't matter."

-WSG can go the whole time from what I've seen, most games involve a turtle or someone camping the GY. The debuff helps but usually (in the 3 battlegroups I've played in, we usually cycle through 3-5 extra players). And 2-3 people who are good/smart can usually carry one team/farm everyone.

-AB which is IMO the fastest and most fun current BG. (AV can be fast with an organized/preform blitz). For whatever reason most games are usually fast but I'm still confused by how many people still fight people on the roads, don't watch flags.

-AV is too long, most people don't care about objectives except killing Drek, don't know how honor/towers/Gys work and is usually lopsided because of the skewing of people that queue. I've played many games where one team has 30-40 people vs. 25. You can either defend and slowly die or try and zerg, which usually fails. Turtles are another amusing part where really unless you have 5-10 people together you cannot really accomplish much especially because usually the initial zerg just kills everything in it's path or just rides by. The reinforcements are something that help, but it's still too long.

- EoTS is decent, but I know most people I've played with hate it. Without the flag, or holding the flag drags out the games very long and getting people to move around and try to capture things, instead of zerg the middle and get farmed over and over is a babysitting job that most people don't look forward too.

- SoTA is better since the introduction of random coin flipping, and I would say that it's pretty balanced, but then again if you're stacked with healers you can't really stop a zerg of 2-3 demos. (I've been in a Strand with 9 healers and it sucked, although we lost fairly quick)

- IoC no one really plays in my BG, it's pretty big and I basically queue to healbot people and watch people die/get farmed by the castle cannons. Just like AV it's more enjoyable to run around with a group of people and laugh at people arguing in chat and catch idiots with RankWatch.
--------------
I'd really like to see a Random BG of the day queue with slots for healing/DPS/tanks(?) I'm not looking for short BGs with tons of honor, I just don't want to be locked into some fail group of idiots that play like all the BGs are brand new. Then again I rarely AFK out because I don't want to sit around for 15 minutes and do nothing. Plus the only time BGs are really popular is during holiday weekends and especially at the beginning of each new Arena season.

Organized and team BGs should be fun and lots of drama which will be humorous. At one point when I played on Black Dragonflight we had a span of ~7 months where we never lost a BG, I think at that time there was only really 7-8 guilds as progressed as us and 2-3 teams that we legitimately thought would be a challenge. Hopefully some competition like that will breathe new life into the game/bgs. I know Sargeras has many people that I wouldn't want to see together in a BG.

I want to be able to have a cross-server PuG raid where you can list the requirements that must had to be able to join. Such as having the acheivement

Achievement snobbery is the height of stupidity regarding PuGs. You can't have both. If you have a regular raid team it's a non-issue since everyone will have the same levels of experience more or less. If you need to get some random people to fill out a 10-man precludes you demanding that they have completed because it's more important that the role be filled otherwise the raid never happens. Additionally just because someone doesn't have the achievement doesn't mean they are not quick learners or able to adapt to the conditions of a fight so long as the raid leader clearly outlines the strategy.

Ha nice, I totally agree. I may not be a 2k+ rated pvp’er but I’ve played quite a lot of arena and find that it does get somewhat tiresome, as a warlock getting prepped for a match is a massive hassle, but a lot of it is just having to concentrate hard for a long period of time.

WSG: afkers ruin it
AB: good
AV: Long is good!

Somewhere around here Blizzard decided that making a battleground from a story/in-game conflict was too much effort. Personally this totally ruined it.

EotS: Ugly, not very interesting.
SotA: “check this out guys! Siege engines!!” -.-
IoC: “MORE siege engines”, also the map is way too big.

IoC needs to be made smaller, and I would enjoy seeing a Death Match, last man standing type Battlegound (with 3 lives so it can last a bit).

Isn't that already the case in most BGs ? :o
