SWTOR Nightmare Mode

As my powertech, I reached level 25 on Balmorra by the time I finished the quests there. I still had to go through Nar Shadda and Tattooine before I would even begin to see monsters my level. I decided to try not doing any planetary storylines, and focus instead solely on class storylines. Additionally, I shoved all of my fancy gear into the cargo hold and dropped down to green quality items, and whites where I had no greens.

Final Fantasy 1

I picked up FF1 again, and decided to write a review (or maybe post-mortem?). It's a great game, not just because of nostalgia, but because it offered some pretty compelling problems despite (or rather because of) a lot of the problems that it had.

Prologue:
I first played Final Fantasy when it was first released. I was about 9. I don't remember much except hanging out at my friend's basement, we killed a lot of ogres. I think my party was something like fighter, red mage,...

Forgetting the past in games? (Or 5-year-old review)

It's funny how things work. I started hearing good things about Fallout: New Vegas, which reminded me of issues that I had with Fallout 3, and general dislike of the Gamebryo engine. This in turn reminded me about Oblivion, which was a game that I played only a bit before shelving. (A bit being probably 80 hours haha.) A number of the issues I had with Oblivion had to do more with the improvements that it had, like fast travel making the world feel disjoint and skills feeling confusing, and...

Random thoughts on the progression of complexity since vanilla wow.

It's always a bit interesting to take a long break from WoW. When you come back, you have a very different perspective on everything.

Until recently, I've played pretty consistently since release. So my understanding of the game grew as the game itself grew in complexity.



My first character was a priest, and playing in Vanilla, the game was very much about getting to level 60, affording an epic ground mount, maybe getting some cool crafted gear....
