Posthoc - analysis of combat log entries

Posted 03/14/08 at 8:33 PM by pewsey
After some rather amusing efforts on Illidari Council (we can kill them, just some people are strangely attracted to fire) I've decided to invest some time in development of tools that can do posthoc analysis of the fights using different criteria to a standard WWS parse.

I'm interested in examining sloth like behaviour in getting out of AOE, as well as looking at consumable use (potions, bandages) and finally a more detailed look at combat such as misses, dodges, parries by both the NPCs and players.

Stay tuned.

pewsey, you might want to take a look at the MATLAB tool (in the UI forum) I developed exactly for the purpose of posthoc analysis. It won't be useful until 2.4, though.

What are you writing this in pews? I'd be interested in helping if its in say, Python (which I want to learn).

So...this still happening? Cuz I want it, bad.

Edit:
Desired feature list: time in/out of 5sr, casting usage by spell on differential targets, approximate potion usage cycling, and I'm damn sure I forgot a few other things. Just for healers, because that's what I'm irked at (tonight).

OK - sorry I've not checked my comments in ages.

Yes, it's still happening. RL issues caused a delay. It's in Java. It's currently in a very raw form (you have to run it in an IDE).

I've got most of the infrastructure in place, and just adding things in as I need to look at them for our raids.

It takes about 30-40 seconds to parse a 100Mb file, and the processing after that is pretty fast. So far, so good.

Everything you say in there Oggie should be possible. I've currently got potion use working, and the next part is to get timeline processing done.

In/out of 5SR could be rather tricky. Spells on targets is easy.
