Retro tanking while, ya know, drunk.
Okay, last night I got ninja yanked into a group doing Morogrim and Hydross because we're on 'friendly' relations with their guild (two people in guild are officers of theirs). Both were bosses they've downed so no guilt on 'overpowering' content or anything.
It did through vague seeds of drunkeness, however, bring up a point. Given the option, and that my Hydross gear is pretty much 100% 'Of Protection' I farmed from the auctionhouse (except leggings which are T6 because I ninja vendored my....nature i think?), why the hell would you not use a paladin for this fight?
You certainly don't need to be prot, though 16.67% doesn't -hurt-. I even had spell warding and PoJ 2/3, but that's merely because of Illidan flames. But why in god's name would you not force a paladin to do this? RF, SoR till you have aggro on all 4 adds, then holy crap heal him while Cons + SA + SoR keeps aggro on everything, HoJing if he gets in trouble? It trivializes the hardest part of the fight. Yeah, sure, that pally ain't healing anything for the next 10 minutes, but that's hardly a small price to pay for removing all aggo concerns from the adds, period. Oh, and you have to HEAL them, but whatever.
And then there's Morogrim. While I was aware that a single prot pally made the fight easier, I was not aware that two of them turned it into what can best be described as 'cosmic joke'. I mean, holy hell. Got graved? S'okay, we have a spare. Both got graved? Leaving aside the 4/25^2 chance, no worries, we both have bubbles in an individual rotation. Short of me screaming on vent 'IF YOU ARE NOT STANDING ON US YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE' the fight was absurdly smooth, enough that I'm gonna make a holy pally wear 'tanking' gear if we ever step foot in that instance again.
All in all, it was nice and fairly smooth. Pretty fun experience, and emphasised to me exactly how comically overpowered the Prot pally is through pretty much all of T5. Or hell, a holy pally in semi-decent gear. It's not like they have to be skilled, there really aren't many buttons to push.
