Return of the Badge Gear Vendor

So by now you should have access to Smith Hauthaa from Phase 3 of the Shattered Sun Offensive.
Of the items that she sells, there's three I'd like to mention. I even bought two of them.

[Scryer's Blade of Focus]
More damage than [The Maelstrom's Fury], but it lacks the crit. So if you haven't got a decent main hand weapon, this is an excellent choice.

[Aftershock Waistguard]
Throw a [Quick Lionseye] in, and you've got something that rates behind the new [Skyshatter Cord] (token drops from Brutallus and [Flashfire Girdle] (a 7% drop from Shade of Akama). I picked this one up because after months of Shade kills, only one has dropped. I wasn't in the raid that night, of course, so as the phrase goes random loot is random.

[Hauberk of Whirling Fury]
This chest was something I took a while to decide on. It is better than the T6 chest, but only if I can get the 4pc bonus elsewhere, but since that is the one original item I'm missing (when I say original, I mean the non-Sunwell T6 items) it wasn't that hard to decide.
Again, a [Quick Lionseye] means I get the socket bonus, and end up with a nice 63 dmg, 0.43% crit, and 3.87% haste. It is 3 damage more, and 1.01% crit less, but the gain of 2.28% haste makes up for it.

So now I am running around with 155 haste rating, reducing my bolt cast time to 1.82 seconds. I will be able to add even more with additional T6 items, as I have the [Gauntlets of the Ancient Shadowmoon] now too.

[edit]I didn't comment on the [Rushing Storm Kilt], as the T6 legs I have are better. If you don't have T6 they would be an excellent choice. There's no crit, but you can easily socket for that if you think you're running low.

Can you please comment on the legs? Considering you did not mention them I guess they can't compare to T6, but how about before that? No crit is a bit scary.

you mention "if you think your running low on crit"

in your oppinion were would that be?

I myself am a BT/SW raiding rogue and i have a elemental shaman alt on which i do SSC/TK and occational hyjal runs with.

i bought the 3 new badge items and gemmed it for haste after reading all the pages in your one stop shop

the stat weights favored the haste but im left at a measly 17,5 % unbuffe. then adding 10% from talents and 3% from TOW to 30,5%

haste is 265 passive and 1100 spell damage

is this crit percentage in your oppinion too low?

Also i tried to find out how much haste is needed to get the GCD to 1 sec flat but cant seem to find it anywere

anyway... im a big fan of your work. keep it up

Ideally, I'd go for ~40% crit all up, mostly for elemental focus.

Haste rating required to reduce the GCD to 1 second is 788.

i realise this is an old post but i have a quick q

You state explicitly that the rushing storm kilt is inferior to t6 legs, yet previously when I had seen them compared the badge legs had come out on top. This is not a "you're wrong" post, I'm just curious how you arrive at the conclusion that t6 are better, since t6 offer (when gemmed as i have) 7 less spell damage, 11 more mp5 (fairly useless when grouped with sp), 23 more spell critical rating (not particularly needed, since i'm still @40% crit self buffed), and 20 more spell hit (which i dont need to be capped). Now personally I only sport the t6 helm and legs currently, so have been using the legs over the badge ones (for the 2 set). However it had been my plan once mother drops me the shoulders to re-equip my badge legs, have I missed a trick? Or is there a case to be made for the badge legs providing (situationally at least in terms of gear) me with more dps than the tier 6. Sorry for my somewhat uncomplicated "opinion" based question, but i don't claim to be much of a mathmetician, though i do take a strong interest in the upkeep of my shaman! Many thanks, Lydora.

Because at that point I didn't have the T6 bracers/belt.

4pc T6 trumps pretty much any upgrade.

Agreed, but how does that answer my question? Would you agree that in the circumstances i outline it would be wise to re-equip the badge leggings, or not? Also, many thanks for all your informative elemental posts, they always make for interesting reading. regards, Lydora

I have just realised on re-reading my post that I in fact had outlined two questions, so I suppose you did answer one. Please be so good as to venture your opinion on the other.

If you don't need the legs for a set bonus, yes, using the badge legs would be good.
