Raiding at 80 + AoE Changes
Level 80 rocks, and questing is fun. WotLK >> TBC.
Anywho, a few of us have gone into Naxx 10 over the weekend, and it's been a good run. Finally got to see all the stuff that I missed, and learnt a few more things about elemental.

Things I Dislike:
Update: Ghostcrawler posts here on upcoming AoE changes.
My response can be summed up in one word: Arg!
Replacing the biggest spellpower raid buff, as well as the "aoe" crit debuff, in order to allow direct AoE is probably a step in the wrong direction. Depending on how the change works, it may be better to leave ToW down, so the raid can benifit from the buffs. 3% Crit on every mob in range, and an extra 280 spellpower may actually work out to be more effective than using Magma as elemental.
On the other hand, the change certainly gives Enhancement & Restoration shaman a more valuable Fire totem to drop.
Later in that thread Ghostcrawler (I don't like calling him "GC") says that they intend making totems fun to use, and arguements for dropping totems for AoE, which I will certainly agree with, but the conflict between Magma & Wrath will certainly complicate issues.
A case for swapping Wrath to Earth, perhaps?
Anywho, a few of us have gone into Naxx 10 over the weekend, and it's been a good run. Finally got to see all the stuff that I missed, and learnt a few more things about elemental.
Things I Learnt:
- Hex. This is a cool spell, especially when I hex, bolt, flame shock, and then burst the mob dead.
- Lava Burst. The 100% crit chance is nice, but the animation is fairly impressive (think a darker Pyroblast).
- Thunderstorm. The knockback is fairly nifty, although the mana restore is a bit of a crutch at times
Things I Dislike:
- Wind Shock being on the same cooldown as all the other shocks. This needs to be on its own cooldown, otherwise it's a nightmare trying to manage interrupts when you're DPSing
- Elemental Mastery. With the Lava Burst/Flame Shock crit mechanism, this spell seems almost redundant.
- The one yard difference between Lava Burst/Lightning Bolt and Flame Shock. 36 v 35 yards may not sound like much, but it's damn irritating to have to move forward just one yard so that FS is in range
- The lack of an actual area of effect spell. Chain Lightning and Thunderstorm are ok, but I feel kinda useless in comparison to the other casters. (more on this below)

Shaman – we are removing the threat component from Fire Nova Totem and Magma Totem and increasing the damage from Magma Totem. This should provide the Elemental shamans in particular with some formidable AE.

I've been really liking elemental so far (though I've done most 10/25 man raids as resto). The whole spec is vastly more interesting then what it was during TBC when spamming LB and depending on your stats mixing in CL was about as interesting as it got. I don't know why they are messing with fire totems that you can't even drop anyways because keeping ToW down is way more important. The best fix I think would be to add a glyph that removes the knockback portion of Thunderstorm but increase the damage by say 50%. This would actually allow you to use Thunderstorm in a raid setting without everybody screaming at you because you knocked all the mobs out of the aoe. On a side note, think of how awesome it would be if Thunderstorm was targetable (think flamestrike) instead of something targetted around your character. That would make an as of now kind of lackluster 51 point talent much more attractive. Despite the flaws though elemental is definitely a lot more fun now then it was during TBC, I won't groan everytime I'm asked to respec this time around.
