A Question of Haste, Part Duex

Posted 14/06/09 at 6:53 PM by Binkenstein
Way way back (Patch 2.4 even) I looked at haste and how useful it was for Elemental rotations at the time. Today I plan on doing the same sort of thing, but for the post 3.1 Elemental (and this may be applicable to other classes as well).

There's a fair bit of concern out there about how there are "bad haste values". I'll admit part of this is my fault, due to early work on modelling how the rotation would scale with haste (I was forgetting that the dot timer would start at the start...

Bink's UI Post

Updated 03/06/09 at 4:29 PM by Binkenstein
As promised, I'm posting a screenshot of my UI, with a listing of the mods I use and why I use them. I will admit that this is a continual work in progress, as I continue to find out about new addons and tinker with existing ones. All mods I use are from either Curse or WoW Interface, but I will not be putting together mod packs or copies of my settings. One other thing to note before getting into the UI stuff, I'm reproducing the Elemental TTT entry over at my Blogspot blog, mostly so I can break...

Overloading on Overload

Hi guys, I'm back!

I've spent most of this time watching TV episodes, movies (Star Trek rocks!), and playing Fallout 3 & Plants vs Zombies. I will get on to the UI post shortly (as voted here), but I thought I'd get something else up in the meantime.

So, uncountably you've heard of the hotfix to Overload, but as with any change like this, it's raised more questions (and complaints) than answers.

First things first: Rotations!
Your standard LB/FS/LvB...

Elemental: Patch 3.1

Updated 16/04/09 at 4:16 PM by Binkenstein
Patch 3.1 is finally here, and with it more bosses, more items, and more changes. The question is (or at least the one that I will address here) how does this affect Elemental Shaman? As per usual, I shall be covering this from a PvE perspective, as I have little interest in (or skill with) PvP. I'll cover talent builds, glyphs, and a few general gearing issues. There will be a short re-cap at the end.

Firstly, talents. We didn't see many changes to talents this time around, mostly...

Dear Blizzard: Elemental Shaman Itemisation

Posted 08/03/09 at 6:31 PM by Binkenstein
Updated 09/03/09 at 2:06 AM by Binkenstein
Dear Blizzard,

Could you please re-think the way caster gear is itemised?

Most of the gear that is showing up on the PTR at the moment has Spirit or MP5 on it. Not much of an issue for other classes, given they get some benefit from spirit (although for some this bonus is fairly minimal), but Elemental gains precisely zero from any regen itemisation. What this means is that the few items that are added without regen stats will be hotly contested by DPS casters, or forcing...
