Dear Blizzard: Elemental Shaman Itemisation

Dear Blizzard,

Could you please re-think the way caster gear is itemised?

Most of the gear that is showing up on the PTR at the moment has Spirit or MP5 on it. Not much of an issue for other classes, given they get some benefit from spirit (although for some this bonus is fairly minimal), but Elemental gains precisely zero from any regen itemisation. What this means is that the few items that are added without regen stats will be hotly contested by DPS casters, or forcing...

What does your Guild mean to you?

Most people join these things we call "Guilds" to do this pass-time called "Raiding". People will often discuss the technical aspects of raiding, how to improve, manage people, what classes to bring, etc etc etc, but no body pays much attention to who you're raiding with, or why you're raiding with them.

I recently left one guild, Deus ex Crux on Dragonblight, to join another, Fade on Jubei'Thos. I decided to change guilds because I was getting irritated at the lack of progression...

TheoryCrafter vs The Unwashed Masses

Last time I talked about general theorycrafting and the blizzard forums. Today I'm going to go through a bit more detail about the sort of things that I run into as one of those TC types. By now I assume most people that read this Blog are aware of the Shaman: Elemental Theorycrafting Think Tank (or TTT for short) entry, and my ever evolving spreadsheet, SIEC (stands for Shaman Elemental Item Comparisons). There are also a few threads going in the Class Mechanics - Shaman forum as well.

There is a large difference between the signal to noise ratio of the Official WoW forums, and places such as EJ. Part of this comes down to the heavy moderation that goes on here (and produces amusing infractions), but mostly it is because the Official boards are seen by many as their "conduit to the developers" and thus vent their frustrations and post suggestions until the cows come home.

I find it surprising how nit-picky and narrow minded most of these posters can be. Nobody seems...

Elemental Beta Thoughts & Impressions

I'm currently 73 at the moment, running around with a 51/0/12 build. This is mostly because Elemental Oath is "broken" (increases mana cost rather than decreasing) as well as the fact that stack buffs like that aren't that useful in a levelling sense.

Thunderstorm so far is very fun to use. There's the usual Frost Shock + Thunderstorm trick to get a mob far enough away to kill it before it gets back and running away with Earthbind down. I've also been using it in a "crowd control"...
