To CoH or not?

So, this is a long standing discussion amongst priests on this board -- when you're in mid/late T6, what spec should your priests be? The consensus seems to be that the first priest should be Imp D.S. and all other priests should be CoH.

Some background: we have 3 holy priests who currently raid. Two of them (myself and another guy) are pretty much 100% attendance; the last priest is consistently 66% attendance (2 of our 3 days -- he has a conflict on Thursdays). My solution from...

Using a 'Mitigation' Weapon

At this stage in the game, most of us get a good laugh at the almost assuredly awful Protection Paladins who run around using Warrior tanking weapons. They're usually the type that can only do Slave Pens and the Mechanar – but not Nethermancer Sepethrea, because she's "hard". We cringe when we join a group on our alts and we get one of them, because it invariably means that your connection is going to "drop" before the first boss, or that the police are at your door and you...

So by now you should have access to Smith Hauthaa from Phase 3 of the Shattered Sun Offensive.
Of the items that she sells, there's three I'd like to mention. I even bought two of them.

[Scryer's Blade of Focus]
More damage than [The Maelstrom's Fury], but it lacks the crit. So if you haven't got a decent main hand weapon, this is an excellent choice.

[Aftershock Waistguard]
Throw a [Quick Lionseye] in, and you've got something that rates behind the new...

Cut to the Chase

Posted 08/06/08 at 8:56 PM by Vulajin
(Much of this article is reiterated from other posts I've made on the subject, but there's some new material on cycles with low-CP Eviscerates.)

Cut to the Chase is the talent that seems to be intended to crown Assassination as a viable PvE DPS spec alongside combat swords in Wrath of the Lich King. If you don't have to refresh Slice and Dice, then you can devote more of your generous combo point supply towards finishers, increasing your DPS. In theory, it's a great idea.

Tol Barad, the Prisoner's Dilemma, and Cooperation

Posted 12/28/10 at 4:09 PM by Hamlet
Introduction

In response to the fact that Tol Barad has turned out to be clearly imbalanced in favor of the defender, Blizzard implemented the following change: winning as the attacker rewards 1800 Honor Points (and winning as the defender still rewards 180). For purposes of this analysis, the only thing you need to know about Tol Barad is that the winner of any match will be the defender in the next match.

I'm going to do some brief game-theoretic analysis to show...
