Herein I will discuss forums goings-on and other interesting stuff tangentially related to administrating a massive online discussion board.
Finally Birthing the TTT and Blogs
Posted 04/03/08 at 4:53 AM by Boethius
I am pleased to use my inaugural blog post to announce and dissect two new forums features that have been in the pipeline for quite some time: the Theorycrafting Think Tank and individual blogs.
Theorycrafting Think Tank
There has been an Illuminati working tirelessly (well working with severe bouts of laziness in between) on a new section of our website called the Theorycrafting Think Tank (TTT). The TTT is a protected wiki wherein only article's authors are allowed to edit or revise the content of their creation. This will allow us to ensure that information is kept accurate and up-to-date.
The content of the TTT itself is primarily concerned with (funnily enough) theorycraft. This isn't meant to be WoWWiki 2.0 or anything of the sort. We like hardcore number crunching and facts regarding the mechanics and formulae in WoW and the TTT is meant to be a compendium of all that knowledge. Think of it as an attempt to collate all the spreadsheets floating around this place.
I'd just like to take a moment and send out a special thanks to all the Editors of the TTT who have seeded content and generally poked and prodded me to finish up the damn thing. <3
Enough rambling, go check it out: Theorycrafting Think Tank - Elitist Jerks
Weblogs
The other newly-released feature is user-generated blogs. These are meant to serve as a bit more editorialized view of the personalities that inhabit this forum and play this infernal game. While some blogs/posts will be a bit off-topic and more light-hearted, I also fully expect a fair amount of WoW-centric analysis and soapbox commentary to take place.
If you'd like a weblog, they are bestowed upon Patrons of Elitist Jerks as a gesture of appreciation for ensuring that I am fed and clothed. And beer. Lots of beer. You can get one here if you like.
Please feel free to ask any questions regarding these features below.

I think it would be useful to have the class (and spec if possible) of each blogs owner available somewhere in the index and on the recent posts page. For instance, I might only be interested in blogs written by elemental Shaman because I happen to play one of those myself, but unless I knew Blinkenstein was an elemental Shaman I wouldn't know his blog would be of most interest to me.

Yeah, we need to do quite a bit of tweaking to the general format once the new forum skin is in place for vBulletin 3.7.
