Shaman wish list for WotLK

In no particular order, a few things I think need to be changed for the shaman class in the next expansion. Not all of these are talent changes,
  • Elemental - a new spell that adds a meaningful dps rotation, similar to mages having Shatter combos, Scorch + Fireball, or warlocks having Conflag consume an Immolate.
  • An Earth totem that provides something meaningful to a group of casters.
  • Enhancement - some sort of combo system for 'finishing moves'. The hinted at "shock charges" from the leaked data mined Alpha files could be just this. This would really be nice if the shock charges could be generated by all the shaman in a raid from certain abilities, while only the enhancement shaman could make use of them.
  • Remove Earth Shock from the linked cooldown between shocks. No other class with an interrupt has to choose between abilities in this manner. A shaman in Arena (or pve) should not have to limit his other utilities (snare/dps) just to interrupt. Rogues/Warriors/Mages need only save enough mana/rage/energy and a GCD to use their interrupts. Possibly remove it from the GCD, and probably remove the damage component entirely so that its just an interrupt and nothing more.
  • Synergy with the resto tree in some manner. The synergy between Enhance and Elemental is pretty unique and its interesting too. I like the idea that out of all the classes in WoW, shaman have synergy between all their trees to where bringing 1 of each spec becomes optimal.
  • Enhancement - Revamp of Tier 1-2 enhance talents. Shield spec and Improved Mana Pool need to go away.
  • Full disclosure on tooltips that Windfury has an internal cooldown. Fix the interaction between Main and Offhand procs so that it doesn't require a degree in mathematics to figure out our optimal gear. Maybe this means decreasing the damage bonus from Windfury Weapon while also unlinking the MH/OH procs (similar to how it worked in patch 2.0) Right now WF is extremely confusing and leads to a lot frustration.
  • Enhancement specific gear. Come on Blizz, throw us a bone! Retadins and Boomkins get Sunwell tokens, where's our stuff?
  • The ability to move totems after they've been placed - mainly as a benefit to solo and small group players who are rarely able to get full use out of a 2 minute totem. I almost never drop totems when solo because the mana cost is too prohibitive to rapid grinding of mobs.

I think the "Shock Charge" thing is part of a boss ability, but it's a good idea none-the-less. I'd prefer that it was generated by Enh only though.

One thing to add: some sort of group buff for elemental shaman & modify ToW!

Yah after I wrote this I had done some more investigation and the Shock Charges look like they are associated with the raid encounter mentioned in the recent interviews where players ride on and control dragons while fighting a boss.

But the idea of adding a finishing move combo system that utilized all 3 specs of shaman would be really neat. Finishing moves that might do different things based on # of charges from each spec would add some real depth.

Note For Retadins, most of the sunwell Leather gear is better than the Plate gear (however, you would likely use the Plate).

What about a "Stable Earth Totem" which provided 15% pushback resistance and 15% resistance to interrupt effects?

An Earth Totem for elemental/resto is easy, Spell Haste. Give Enhancement a Fire Totem which adds Melee Haste.

In Wrath currently, haste affects both spells and melee attacks, so that would be a very useful totem.

Earth Shock and other shocks have linked cooldowns from back pre-TBC a shock could take 25% of your target's life with a crit.

Now that everyone has more stamina, the devs could consider removing the linked cooldown.

I agree with freak[boy]. I would absolutely love something in addition to SS. I just don't feel like a real WoW player if I'm not mashing something down.
