The Warcraft Armory

I wouldn't have believed they'd finally do this if I wasn't seeing it with my own two eyes. It doesn't look like they have some of the deeper information in place yet, but damn.

The site is obviously pretty overloaded right now, but if it is what the main page description says, it's funny to see it make its debut as websites like Rupture come into existence.

diospadre 02/28/07 4:49 PM

Clearly nobody will use it because it doesn't have a restricted invite system to drum up interest.

s4dfish 02/28/07 4:55 PM

Could be very nice as you won't have to worry about keep your profile up to date. Provided of course that it becomes stable after the initial traffic rush dies down. I've been able to select my character and guild, but have not been able to look at any of the results yet.

Wodin 02/28/07 4:56 PM

I'm the only level 70 Wodin in the game :coolfish:

Kalince 02/28/07 4:59 PM

Before it got killed with traffic I was able to look at one character profile and looked like you could see many more details about a character then I myself would give out.

Rupture goes well beyond that, even to show which consumables were used during a fight, how long the fight lasted, all the equipment in your bags.. etc. Too intrusive.

If anybody gets a character profile to come up they should post a screenshot. I'm keen to see what this actually looks like.
edit: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/ch...th&n=Punchline appears to work.

Vykromond 02/28/07 5:08 PM

This is quite cool. But it needs a variety of opt-outs.

Holy crap I'm the only 70 Bekah in the game. LOL that's awesome! Of course I can't see any details- every time I try the site just gives me a blank page.

Shows promise. Here's hoping Blizz has the bandwidth to maintain a monster of this size without losing the questionable stability of their forums server.

Edit: "Why aren't my lifetime honorable kills displayed under Achievements?
In order to have your lifetime honorable kills displayed, you must have at least 1337 honorable kills."

You still kind of consent to giving out that information by using whatever product it is that pulls your data. With the armory Blizzard has decided for you that you would like to display everything.

Grymm 02/28/07 5:11 PM

No! All my secrets!!

Given the competitive nature of the raid scene, I'd prefer people didn't have access to see my gear. It begs the question: what gear do they see? What I'm wearing when I log off? What I am currently wearing? What I was wearing at last maintenance? These are not vital secrets but I'm sure some people in the PVP scene want to limit how much their opponents might know about what trinkets they use and such. I'd much rather have a Blizzard run item drop database taken from live servers so you can browse equipment that people have been able to see. Being able to see what the furthest guilds have been able to see might add some impetus to keep feeding bliz your 15$ a month.

Elendril 02/28/07 5:11 PM

Yeah, I'm actually not really happy that it makes information like gear set up and talent build public information with the arenas out there. I know I'll be looking over the set ups of all of the top 5v5 teams in my battlegroup, and I'm sure they'll be doing the same.

Bibdy 02/28/07 5:11 PM

Someone made a female gnome warrior after me...

Yes. It doesn't show bags that I can see, so you can log out naked every night and your gear secrets will be safe.

Why do I have what appear to be temporary buffs and debuffs appearing on my character sheet?
The way the character sheet is updated currently includes all active buffs and debuffs on your character at the time you log out of the game, including item-based buffs
