2.0.10 Cleave implementation

Hi,

Any melee want to share their experiences with 2.0.10 to see if the discussed changes to cleave have been implemented.

The patch notes show that Soccothrates has been made more melee friendly, so I was hoping that the cleave mechanic had also been stealth changed (fingers crossed).

Pewsey has heard about tact and discretion, but tends to regard them much as children view vegetables.
There are only two kinds of MMOs: the ones people complain about and the ones nobody plays. (inspired by Bjarne Stroustrup)

I believe this was one of the changes mentioned in a Blue post that didn't make it to the patch notes? They said that Eye of Kilrogg would be getting fixed to have a proper stealth value then later got taken from the patch notes, but I hear that the change went through anyway.

There's always free cheese in the mouse traps, but the mice there ain't happy.

Wasn't the change to Soccothrates the tonedown on the immolation aura that tended to murdify melee?

Yes.

It certainly wasn't that bad (I've done him a number of times), but it was very anti-melee.

I went through Arcatraz last night and it was a cake walk. Those changes really made him quite trivial as the aura does about half the damage and he didn't seem to hit as hard either.

The whirlwind lady (sorry, I don't have her name handy) seemed a bit nerfed too...she killed off our mage and shadow priest because they decided to take aggro from me by dpsing non-stop through the whirldwinds and we ended up 3 manning her with a prot tank, moonkin, and priest.

The legionares in heroic blood furnance still are almost impossible to melee from any side. They spam (almost every 1.5 seconds) sweeping strikes that hit plate for 5k +. Not really "cleave" but still ridiculous.

I still noticed Quugmaran on Heroic Slave Pens also has cleave issues still. Sometimes he would hit me behind him, sometimes not at all.

Looks like several mobs are still very melee unfriendly, or broken.

We got Wizard of Oz last night and Tinman's Cleave was as bad as always. Couldn't tell a difference on Ethereal Thieves either so our Rogue stayed the hell away, as always.

I'd go as far as to say this is one change they've yet to implement (which seems strange).

Did they actually implement any of the things they talked about for this patch?

I've yet to find a socket item that was changed in the way of a buff, I've yet to hear of Gruul toning and definatly didnt see any changes to tier4 except for nerfs to rogues.

What!?

I assumed that when they meant "next patch", they meant "next content patch", or 2.1. There's no doubt that most of these changes are a little too sweeping for the devs to have fixed in a week.

I'm pretty sure the change is going into the content patch. I was definitely getting cleaved from behind by the guards in Gruul's lair last night.

The changes to cleave will most likely go into our next "Major Content Update" or 2.1.0.

It is, though his "Blizzard" forum title seems to have been eaten by the forum software switch. Let me fix that....

It is him, he has posted some news here in the past before it was on WoW.com, and this forum has helped to resolve certain issues aswell. (besides, you dont really think EJ would let someone with the name 'tigole' post here without being certain its him?)

edit: gurg beat me to it.

Well I was just largely unimpressed by seeing no changes or nerfs to socketed items that I have, which seems quite contrary to what was said in the notes etc. Slight derail I apologize.

Do you have tier 5 loot or SSC loot? That's what was supposed to be addressed. I think any meaningful itemization fix is going to take a bit of time. I'd rather they do it right than try to make a quick haphazard pass over the raid loot and screw things up in some other way.

Oh I agree, but the notes said:
- The cost of sockets in high end items has been adjusted slightly,
the result is that most high end epic items should see an increase
in stats.
I admittedly don't have any tier5 or SSC epics, but when reading over threads on tier5 changes they all seemed very minor, like something the lines of +5 dmg or something on the tier5 mage for instance. I guess I was wrong in thinking that tier4+ and crafted epics etc. with sockets were High end.

Oh well, they said they were continuously looking into it, so I'll just wait some more I guess.

What!?
