Hmmm, actually, 525 is the cap (current cap is 450, add 75 = 525). The "normal" end range for skilling is 500 (which is what you will probably need for the next expansion).

Netherweave Bags have been selling extremely well last night and today. I expect that to continue as more players roll a new character to see the new low-level content in the two weeks before Cataclysm. Most of those characters won't be going to Outlands any time soon to replenish the market's supply of Netherweave either, so I anticipate prices staying high.

Getting any city rep to revered (easy now by level 20) lets you buy 16 slot bags from the quartermaster for less than 2g. Seems that would kill off any netherweave bag prospects...

...lets you buy a single 16-slot bag per faction...
They're unique. And people will want bags long before they hit revered, in my opinion.

Never underestimate lazy / stupid people. I still have been selling netherweave bags like crazy, even with a health number of other people selling them. 13g on the low end to upwards of 20g for a single bag. I mean, I have been successful in selling ever single [Drakesfire Epaulets] that I have gotten from Ragnaros in my weekly Eye runs, for around 25g each. Who would buy those pieces of junk when they either have outlands available in 2 levels, or BoA shoulders.
Another possible limited time avenue for some coin is to do the cooking daily in org / SW on all your toons that have cooking, buy the crates of meat, and sell those on the AH for super high prices. Anyone looking for an edge for realm first cooker will consider them, and in the worst case you are just out a couple of recipes for a week or two.

Raw mats seem like the way to go at xpac time. Stacks of saronite ore were selling for 150-180g on Cho'gall for at least a month, if not more, into WotLK. Unique JC cuts of course will be useful, as will all the pre-heroics/pre-raid crafted gear. In wrath I didn't take advantage of farming off-peak hours for raw mats, and I was still able to get 2 epic fliers within a couple weeks. I think 1k/hr of farming is pretty reasonable during the early weeks following release.

As has been mentioned, any sort of new character items will sell well at this time, some of the items include:
-Bags
-Leveling gear/enchants (weapons less so as some people will have pre-enchanted BoA's)
-To further expand on leveling gear, anything with a socket will be excellent.
-Gems, especially if you get perfect procs
-Glyphs
-Cloth
For the 80-85 crowd, many people will be wanting to boost their professions to the max possible quickly, any sort of new mats will sell well. Also, any higher up leveling aids would be good for the elitist group: Flasks, Drums, Scrolls, etc.
This means if you want to switch professions from a gathering to a crafting, it would theoretically be better to wait a while to make money on the high leveling crowd, and then buy mats from the low leveling crowd, many of whom will have double gathering professions. I plan to switch from enchanting to LW in a few weeks.

Hessonite and Nightstone are two of the barrier gems for getting to 475 JC, which is a big step because that unlocks the daily. As such, these gems are going for a premium compared to the others on the AH. Depending on how many people are farming the crap out of Twilight Highlands and Uldum for Elementium ore, it may be worthwhile to simply prospect your ore and sell the hessonites and nightstones, provided you don't need them for leveling of course. I have been able to get 150g or so per gem.

If you're an alchemist, check volatile life and volatile air prices on your server. If it's anything like mine, they're hugely out of balance. Life for 20g a piece, air for 110g.
Take 15, go to Uldum, transmute, and bam, you should get 15 air, 15 earth, and if you're transmute spec, another 15 bonus ones.
Earth and Life are the same price on my server, so you break even on that, then the air + bonus ones are pure profit.

For example, if you use Transmute: Living Elements while in Uldum, you will always receive Volatile Air for your efforts.

So is that bugged or what? Getting 2 for 1 on an xmute seems overpowered. Is there a cooldown on this? There isn't one listed on wowhead.

Transmute Mastery has traditionally been a chance to proc multiple transmutes. In the case of Transmute: Living Elements, it's a flat chance to double, with no chance to triple or more. It has a 1-day cooldown that resets at the same time every day, regardless of when you use it. It shares this cooldown with Transmute: Pyrium Bar and Transmute: Truegold, but not the gem transmutes. There appears to be a bug on live, where transmutes performed in Uldum will provide both a guaranteed 14-16x [Volatile Air] and [Volatile Earth], as well as (if you have the mastery,) the Transmute Mastery proc.
EDIT: It appears the Uldum bug is tied to a Deepholm bug - You don't get anything (except the TM "extra" proc) if you use it in Deepholm right now.

Besides the bug, it's not really "overpowered". It's at the opportunity cost of Truegold. Alchemy is the _only_ source of Truegold.

Ah, the cooldown and the fact that it's shared with the metal transmute makes a big difference. WoWhead no longer tracks many cooldowns, probably due to the new "once a day" system.
If you are leveling alchemy and don't want to wait for daily gem transmutes, you are probably going to do flasks. At current prices it makes sense (on my realm at least) to switch to elixer then back to transmutes.

The transmutes that turn 3 green quality gems and 3 herbs into a blue quality gem *do not* have a cooldown. I just used 4 of those 6 transmutes 5 times each to cap alchemy and then immediately did my truegold cooldown for the day.

Thanks for the info. The volatile xmute has been fixed on my realm at least. You don't get earth and air in uldulm, and you may not get your xmute bonus volatiles. Hopefully that means there is a chance for a multiple proc now.
