I'm at the point tomorrow where I can only purchase minor upgrades. Should I, should I not? I wish Blizzard would tell us more.
All classes can only get 5 armor slots (there are also weapons and wand/ranged weapon/relic).
The boots, bracers, and belt are covered by PvP rewareds.

The healing stuff will be added in a future patch.

The Arena stuff may get updated in Season 2 (which will start sometime after May 15th, but most likely the season will go on longer than that).

For players on the top 5 teams, their Armory profile at the most show 4 armor pieces and no weapons or just weapons plus 1-2 armor pieces, so even the top players have more things they can buy before hitting the cap at this point in the season.

Are you certain of this? The Honor system does not cover Healing equipment at all, the only boots are dmg&healing.
There is absolutly no +healing equipment at level 70 for honor. I don't see why they shouldn't add it to the arena, Healing is far more present there than in BGs

That's because they didn't have the super ratings in the first few weeks
2200 5on5 is 1400 points, that's the three 1875 pieces in 1 month.
Assuming it's 5 more weeks of season now and they hold that ranking, it's 7000 points. That's enough for the 1875 pieces and gauntlets alone.

Oh and some people managed to buy the main hand weapon before the price bump

There is only one set just from honor points, there are no healing sets from BGs.

Druids, Shaman and Priest can buy a Arena healing set now, the Pally one should be added when the healing weapons are added, in a future patch.

Not sure why it is not in game, here is the set: http://www.wowhead.com/?itemset=690#00z

(and yes I meant outside that set there is absolutly zero healing equipment, which is why I don't understand. The healing set is there, yet EVERYTHING else is either AP or spell damage.
This set hardly counts as you can get Gladiator's ornamented.

It is in game, but there's no neck, no boots bracer belt, no cloak, no rings, no gems for healing. There should be healing stuff as there are many players enjoy healing. The fact that healers have to get PVE heal equip for these slots furtherly lowers their survivability in PVP as they can't get resilience on these slots then. Not as bad for a Paladin, but horrible for a priest - they have to choose between enough heal/sec to actually heal or resilience to survive.

and when I asked about you being certain, I meant the part that no boots etc will ever be available through arena. THat we get the 5piece sets and weapon slot items, and that's it.

Any solid info on who is getting the Netherdrakes? I thought it was #1 team in each bracket on each server, but your comments sound like top 5 teams on the BG?

All I've heard about the Netherdrake is

1) The top 0.5% teams in the bracket get one
2) You won't get the riding skill for free with it
3) It shows up in your mailbox

I vaguely recall seeing some blue posts about each of them, but can't for the life of me find them on cardplace.

There's always free cheese in the mouse traps, but the mice there ain't happy.

That's so cheap. Grats on your reward, too bad you can't use it unless you buy gold.

but let's not take this offtopic

I don't care about the other two points, I have a fast mount as it is, but I'm really curious about this. It seems like noone really knows WHO will get netherdrakes. I've heard top1, top5 and top 0.5% as the three most mentioned, but I've not yet seen a blue stating any of them.

I'd like this cleared up too. We're currently #2 5v5 in our pathetic little Battlegroup (Cataclysm), mostly because we haven't been able to get a game against the #1 team for the last two weeks...

Q 1: Who gets the netherdrake?

Tom Chilton says #1 team: http://blue.cardplace.com/newcache/us/48697539.htm
‘With BC the Arena system gives rewards on par with the best you’ll find in the rest of the game. Any time we start new raids, we’ll start a new Arena season that gives us the opportunity to add a new set of Arena rewards to keep up with that. Each season lasts three months, and at the end of that, based on your position on the ladder, each person in the top team is going to receive an Epic armoured Netherdrake mount.’
But that's from an old old interview.

I've heard 0.5%, but I too cannot find a blue post substantiating this.

Q2: When do you need to be #1/0.5%?

Unknown. Neth weighs in on 3/28: http://blue.cardplace.com/newcache/us/86715258.htm

I don't have a date for that just yet. Once we have something solid, we'll let people know. Sorry. ;/

Slightly hard to find because the word "netherdrake" is mentioned only once.

On the topic of Arena points, how are the awarded when you win or lose a game?

Say you were rated 1650 (my team) and gained like 15 points, how do you know whereabouts the current rating of the other team?

Also, when I have played the same team back to back (one with a lose, one with a win), I lose a few more points than I gain.

I had been going off the notion that evenly matched teams are worth 15 points, although I don't recall where I first read this.

What's scary is that the system can (and will) match you up against a team worth zero points if nothing else is available.

I'm almost positive its 16 points for an equal rated team. When the matching system bugs out and matches us against no team, it shows a 32 point gain on the rating screen. It doesn't give us those points, of course, but it does imply that 32 is the max you could gain. It seems reasonable to extrapolate that you'd earn 16 from a team with an identical rating, as that's how most ELO systems work.

Yeah this is really silly. I am on a reasonably high ranked 5s team (2200+), and I've had many games that netted 0 point wins (normal rated matches against full teams, no shenanigans, they were just ranked way too low).

I can understand the desire to match teams eventually to keep them from getting "stuck in the queue" but these "zero-gain/everything to lose" games should simply not be in the system. Blizzard either needs to drop you from the queue after N minutes and just say "no teams available" or simply set the minimum points to 1 rather than 0. At least give me a single point for a match that I risk losing 30 pts if someone D/Cs. Its not like the lower-ranked teams are going to complain that they are getting farmed by the monsters 1 pt at a time.

My Steam Profile (Aether) Cherish the difference between 58° and 59°.
