Kharazan flightpath?
I'd seen this mentioned on the kharazan diagram on WoWWiki and assumed it was in the (previously unexplored for us) Medivh's chambers - so after killing prince I persuaded most of the raid to kill our way through and try to find it - needless to say we diddn't, and it was written off as an april fools joke .
However, a shaman in the raid stuck about to look around and got this pic using far sight:

Any ideas of where abouts in the tower this is, and if there is a way to reach it?
he used farsight from this point :

There is no flight point active on Karazhan; presumably Blizzard couldn't figure out a way of making a flight path cross over an instance border, and they didn't want to provide a very far in back entrance of the instance either.

I recall some discussion of a flight path side entrance being planned in one of the beta reveals, so they probably did do some development there, hence the obvious location that isn't being used. That would have been a way cooler entrance than the staircase, though.

This excuse of technical limitation is hard to believe... I can't imagine they wouldn't be ABLE to do it... it's just that they didn't figure it to be a good idea in the end.
How hard would it be for the gryphon to fly through an instance portal/boundary? You see a zone screen and reappear on a gryphon on the other side.

I've seen this flightpoint mentioned before. I think it was written off to something between the lines of Medivh's private jet and unfinished stuff.
And on a slightly similar note, what other april fools day jokes should I be aware of?

Quick thought... what's that green circle thing supposed to be toward the bottom of the screen shot? Reminds me of the portal in the stormwind mage tower.

Well, he farsighted from outside the instance which means that flight path was perhaps intended to be outside the instance with that green circle being the instance portal at a weird angle.
I can't imagine just how fun it would be on a PvP server to try to land there during prime time, what would the corpse run be like as well?

Maybe this is why it was scrapped? Thorium Point was bad enough to land with it being some distance away from the instance... if people are chilling 10ft from zone in with fresh boredom breaking prey dropping in from time to time...

Uhh, what? Why would it be so hard to believe?
The last mention I remember of the Karazhan flight point was a post by Tigole saying they "still wanted to do it" but that it might not have ended up happening due to, you guessed it, technical issues.

Is there still a flight point accessible midway through Kharazan? I always thought that was a really cool concept.

we're going to try to make that work. there are some tech issues with it but we'll do our best

I heard that the old Ironforge flight point is now active at least for alliance. Maybe that one leads to Karazhan?

Your hordies met up in TP? That's just bad for everybody. Kargeth is really not that much farther, and the dynamic of always being able to control your flight point is unbelievably good if you have two major raid zones in one area.

Now, that's the point... they didn't meet there, but there tended to be a few stealthed rogues waiting to take people out during prime time. If they did in fact meet there, things would be even worse. :P

I would also be curious what limitations they're facing. There's a "skeletal gryphon" flying around, would be a lot of fun to have a new mount model.

Well that post was a fools one, but there is an unlinked flight point above Ironforge (often called old ironforge). You can see it flying as alliance from IF to Menethil. You can - with some trickery - also get there, but it's not a functioning flight point at the moment nor is it likely at all that it will ever function.
On the plateau some trolls attack defending alliance there, one of those random flight entertainment spots that you have all over vanilla WoW.

If nothing else, have a quest in the library that requires killing Prince that allows you to get the Karazhan flightpath, put a one-way instance portal at the top, have it come out at the top of the non-instanced tower where the flight-path dude is, and have an NPC there that continually casts an AE slowfall spell.
No real technological hurdle to overcome then, just a 'shortcut' reward of sorts for beating Prince.

I thought Old Ironforge was the old city beneath the current Ironforge, and reachable by various wall bugs. What you're talking about is Ironforge Airport, I think.

It's not as far-fetched as it seems. Anyone that played the original beta, and played alliance, can remember the oddities of flight paths back then. Theramore -> Tanaris, anyone? That flew you into the water and halfway through the ground. :P
Simply put, flight paths seem designed to ignore geometry as long as you're on one, which is the technical hurdle they would have to overcome. There would be so many pathing points needed, to make it viable, that it would be a huge pain to do.

You should see some of the horde flight paths in TBC, particularly those that route through Thunderlord Stronghold - one of them flies you straight through a building, and there's a couple of others that bounce you off the ground and through some of the spiky rocks near the FP (or at least, they did last time i used them, haven't actually used a fixed flight path since i got my swift windrider...)

I'm a Horde newb who's never touched a Horde character post-TBC, but as I understand it, Blood Elf land is on the same "continent" as outlands and Exodar... how are flight paths handled between that area and Eastern Kingdoms? Do you get the loading screen mid-flight?

There's no flight paths from the Blood Elf lands to the rest of Eastern Kingdoms. The 3 ways you can get there are:
1) Ride through the instance portal in northern EPL
2) Use the Translocation Orb in the Ruins of Lordaeron
3) Use the portal in Shattrath.

There is no flight path into the new Silvermoon area, only one that connects the capital to a small town in the ghostlands (which is also in the new horde area). There is no flight point from Silvermoon to Light Hopes Chapel, even though the zones are right next to one another and would make perfect sense. This is probally due to like said before, taking a flight path through zones is not technically easy for blizzard to implement.
To get to anywhere from Silvermoon you take a teleporter from behind the city leader. This teleports you to the top of the Ruins of Lordaeron. This is a two way teleporter. I also am assuming that Alliance cannot use this device.
