It has happened to us many times throughout our first tries and our first kill, can't say beyond that as we've only killed him once. I actually prefer when he stays and spawns an add instead of moving, less work.

Well yes, as I said ideally he'd never leave position 1 and / or he'd return there. There will be fewer flame buffets, fewer wacky transitions (depending on how you tank it), etc.

We use 3 tanks up top covering positions 1, 2&4, and 3 respectively. Obviously, you can't predict the bugs but our guy who runs between 2 and 4 would probably not mind much just running the big lap after a quill and then hanging out in position 2 until Al'ar quilled again.

Isn't it time to rename this thread ?

I tried that request a page or two ago since the vast vast majority of the thread has zero to do with fire resistance and other than some strats we sure don't use, zero people have any FR in this fight.

But since my request when ignored, I presumed the mods felt it was inappropriate.

Reading through this post i haven't actually been able to come to a conclusion about 1 thing as the opinions seem to differ

Does al'ar lose the 3% if the add dies while he is doing the comet ?
Can some of the more reliable posters verify this?

He does lose the 3% health in that case. The only way to lose the HP loss from killing an add is to kill adds between phase 1 and phase 2. (The adds after the fight despawn now anyway.)

By the way, if you do have someone stand too close to the wall during meteor and get Al'ar to evade bug, make sure to remind everyone that they still have to avoid being dumb and dying to flame wreath because OMG AL'AR ON WALL, WORLD FIRST.
