I think the addition of Cauldrons is actually more related to the change in Healing pots. In many resistance fights, it's better to pop a resistance pot than it is to use a healing potion. With Healing potions being harder to make due to using Nether Bloom, the addition of simple and plentiful resistance potions will help ease the loss of cheap and easy to get Healing pots.

Great! One less potion you have to use during the fight! Rejoice!

Just because it was a nice sample size I thought I'd post my results of my massive creation load tonight in attempts of discovery. I am a potion master.

101 Fel Mana Potions - got 116 total with procs.

No discovery.

206 Super Healing Potions - got 239 total with procs.

On the 163'rd Health pot I discovered Mighty Restoration(Yay lucky me getting the one I really wanted the most first ).

228 Super Mana Potions - got 259 total with procs.

On the 33'rd Mana pot I discovered Super Rejuvenation Potion.


So 535 potions made and 2 flasks discovered. Proc rate for mastery seems to be about the same as well.

I made about 50 pots before I also discovered super rejuv potion, I have probably made about 150 so far and thats the only discovery though.

I had a little over a hundred super mana pots made with no discoveries, but the proc rate was consistent with pre-patch.

A friend of mine just made me 255 super mana pots and got 3 flask discoveries.

My girlfriend was making pots when dude standing next to her got 2 flasks in a row. Flasks of Relentless Assault and Fortification. I have no data as to how many he made in total. She only got Super Rejuvenation on 2nd potion she made.

I got a Transmute: Primal Mana to Primal Fire from the earth to water I made today. Quite a few guildmates made discoveries as well.

Made 22 shadow power elixirs and got a shadow prot flask discovery. Go figure, heh.

I've made a buttload of elixirs/pots/flasks (will count up soon) and got 4 discoveries so far. Didnt get my first one until around 500.

I've made 170 Super Mana Potions(235 with procs) and discovered 3 Flasks.
first after ~100 potions and then 2 in a row at 143

Those interested in proc rates, I got a lot of data now :P

In total 2616 combines today- all elixirs/flasks as elixir master, all potions as potion master. Grand total 3171 made, giving me 21.2% extra.

I had every single discovery made within the first 1500 or so. (had none previously)

What I´d like to know and haven´t found answered anywhere on the boards yet - does the type of discovery for flasks depend on what you create? Like can Relentless Assault Flask only be discovered via Onslaught or Fel Strength elixirs (just to give a hypothetical example).
Also is the chance for a discovery equal for all kinds of alchemy consumables or does creating a flask grant a bigger chance to discover another flask than an elixir?

To help answering this question maybe everyone can say what flask he or she learned creating what potion/elixir/flask.

I´ll start by saying I learned Flask of Fortification by creating Elixir of Major Strength.

I'm pretty sure we found out a while ago that it was unrelated for the flasks and super rejuv potion.

Myself pre-2.1 i got mighty resto while making str elixir

the cauldrons on the other hand are definitly related to their respective major x protection potion, and the proc rate is significantly higher

Here is what I learned from what;

Flask of Mighty Restoration - Super Mana Potion (pre-patch)
Flask of Relentless Assault - Super Mana Potion (pre-patch)
Flask of Fortification - Super Mana Potion
Flask of Shadow Fortification - Flask of Relentless Assault
Flask of Arcane Fortification - Flask of Relentless Assault
Super Rejuvanation Potion - Flask of Relentless Assault

THERE IS CLEARLY A CORRELATION!

Actually, I don't think for a second there is, even if you could draw one. As has already been stated here, what you learn from what you're making seems entirely random. That I learned absolutely everything from Super Mana Potions and Flasks of Relentless Assault shouldn't be read into simply because I heavily used the former to make gold, the latter to keep my guild's raid heart beating pre-patch.

How many Flasks of Relentless Assault did you make? Just wondering if the discovery chance is higher from a flask than a potion or elixir. I discovered Flask of Relentless Assault after 5 or 6 Flasks of Mighty Restoration.

This many.

I had 1509 herbs on an alt (I know it was that many because a GM slapped me on the wrist for using the mailbox as a second bank when I called wondering where my 14 Solid Star of Elune's were after I got T5 shoulders) and the guy that screenshot is from had over 2000 waiting for me to craft on the day 2.1 hit.

Suffice to say I learned everything I didn't already have on the first day.

So far I have made 240 super mana pots, 60 onslaught, 80 draenic wisdom, and 80 super healing power - 0 discoveries.

As a matter of fact, I have had 0 discoveries since TBC and I have been at max alchemy for a while now.

Just before the 2.1, my alchemy skill hit 375 by making Major Dreamless Sleep Potions. Once it hit 375, i started to make Elixir of Major Agility without a specific alchemy mastery taken. And on my just second Elixir of Major Agility, i discovered Flask of Arcane Fortification.

Nothing else until today tho.

Yesterday I discovered Primal Earth -> Life. My first and only discovery and it converts something abundent into something equally abundent.

Oh well, at least I made 20G off the Earth -> Water I did to discover it

Has anyone else noticed that the supposed improvement of Fel Lotus drop rate is rather non-existent? I've gotten exactly zero since the patch with a couple hundred herb nodes harvested.
