Personalities of guild leadership. (Survey)
 

A friend from my guild asked me to post this request for him. He has an EJ account, but can’t create his own posts yet and hasn’t been able to get in contact with Boethius to ask whether he could post his survey anyway like other people have done in the past. Hopefully it’s okay to post this for him.

Hello Elitist Jerks community,
I am a researcher from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), currently involved in a study on the personalities of guild leadership and I am looking for participants to complete a survey as part of the research.
In order to participate, you must be an officer in your guild and your guild should have raided ICC in some way (anything between wiping on Lord Marrowgar to defeating the Lich King on heroic mode). If you aren't an officer in your guild, you may wish to suggest that your leaders complete the survey on your behalf.
Elitist Jerks is well known for its reliance on verifiable number theory rather than anecdotal evidence and hearsay, and this study represents a way to obtain statistically viable evidence in an area of online gaming that is not easily or readily available.
While participants who provide an email in the survey will receive the study’s findings upon its conclusion, I would also like to offer the Elitist Jerks community the study’s results as well, in return for a medium to find participants.

This survey sure does ask for alot of in-game information. It's bad enough it asks about you, but then asks for a referal of people you consider Leaders. Then the person that really wanted to post, cant post, for whatever reason why. I dunno, but just seems a little fishy to me. Sorry.

That University is notorious for taking and using personal information for its studies without asking for permission. Just the sheer fact they are on this board means they are probably already gathering info from and about its users. While I doubt they are doing anything like trying to steal accounts, they have a very negative reputation in several other (non-WoW) communities and I'd highly recommend avoiding involvement with them.

The thread is closed, there is nothing more to discuss. While the survey does ask for more character specific information that I think would be necessary for such a survey, there does not seem to be anything malicious underfoot here. Please stop reporting it.

I talked with the guildmate in question on at least two occasions before this was posted by Natasha and directed them to Boethius.

Take the survey or don't as you wish but otherwise, move along.
