Greetings,

We are running into serious problems with the shade of Aran, we dont' have the most fantastic DPS, but our healing is amazing and our DPS certainly is enough to take down Curator without any problems consistantly. Three weeks now we have potted up, flasked up, and spent a fortune on consumables trying to get this fight down.

At first it always fell apart at the elementals, this week we got past that consistantly but still it fell apart around 5-15% each time.

Group build is as follows:
Feral Druid (Main Tank/DPS)
Feral Druid (Offtank/DPS)
Prot Warrior later switched to Fury Spec (Me)
Holy Priest
Holy Paladin
Rogue
Warlock
Mage
Hunter
Elemental Shaman

We handled the elementals by banish/fear and my getting agro on two of them. It seemed to consistantly get blizzard/flame wreath while they were out, making it nearly imposslbe to effectively control them...

We had several attempts down to 5-10%... any suggestions, anything I'm blatantly missing?

It's easy to miss with 100+ pages, but if you really want to do everything you can to push the encounter over the easy, bring two warlocks. Give them both assist, have them pick a pair of shapes (one fear, one banish), and sides of the room, and emphasize "get it done" is better then "follow the rules" (viz, if A's fear target is over in B's area, and B's banish is over in A's...)

Everybody is your brother until the rent comes due.

You don't need two warlocks (its easier of course). What you really need is very good communications between players. At 44% (you DO have a mod that shows his health?) the raid leader needs to do a quick check. If his mana pool is still pretty high, which it should be if you are doing the right interrupts, make sure flame wreath is not up or incoming. If flame wreath is incoming, STOP ALL DPS until its almost over. Same with Blizzard, if he is in the middle of Blizzard may want to halt DPS for a few secs until its over (make sure flame wreath doesn't start up though before you restart DPS). It can be tricky with a simon-says kind of start/stop DPS checking, but really helps prevents the chaotic situations that lead to wipes.

When he hits 40% and the elementals come up, the people not dealing with the elementals need to stay focused on aran. Don't let any fire/ice spells go uninterrupted. Heal everyone. Don't lose control or panic. Thats really the key to this fight, you can go a long time and survive everything if everybody stays focused, does their job, and executes correctly. One person panicking and screwing up will wipe you, even at 5%.

BTW the warlock should be putting up curse of reck for this fight, as it helps the melee DPS a lot. For most groups, a swstats parse will show most of the damage to aran comes from physical damage not spell.

I personally believe the key to this fight is organized interruption. Get interruption rotations set in stone prior to the pull. It may take a wipe or two to get the rotations down, but that seems to be the key to that fight.

The main problem for us was his ordinary effects during the elemental phase, people would die because of blizzard and flame wreath. What worke was to call out "everyone, except warlock and warrior, just ingore the elementals and concentrate as normal on avoiding flame wreath / blizzard".

Having a holy paladin using legacy of the mountain king, frost resistance aura, righteous fury and some green frost resistance gear lesssened the burden of the initial elemental spawn. There is also a jewelcrafting necklace that gives frost resistance and can be used 10 times as a frost potion for the entire group.

we mostly just ignore the adds, 1 gets banished and the others get massfeared when they are annoying, and healers are basically spamming heal on everything and everyone :p.

Bring 2 warlocks and 4 healers and you will steamroll it first try. This is not a DPS race, it is a control fight.

well 4 healers is imo overkill, 1 healer can comfortably heal from 100 till 40% on his own.
