Does anyone have a complete-ish list of the new cuts? So far I've only seen..

Epic
Jagged Seaspray Emerald: +5 Critical Strike Rating and +7 Stamina | Blue/Yellow
Dazzling Seaspray Emerald: +2 Intellect and +2 Mana every 5 seconds | Blue/Yellow
Radiant Seaspray Emerald: +5 Spell Critical Rating and +6 Spell Penetration | Blue/Yellow
Enduring Seaspray Emerald: +5 Defense Rating and +7 Stamina | Blue/Yellow
Wicked Pyrestone: +5 Critical Strike Rating and +10 Attack Power | Red/Yellow
Veiled Pyrestone: +5 Spell Hit Rating and +6 Spell Damage | Red/Yellow
Glinting Pyrestone: +5 Hit Rating and +5 Agility | Red/Yellow
Luminous Pyrestone: +11 Healing Spells and +5 Intellect | Red/Yellow
Potent Pyrestone: +5 Spell Critical

Opinion is a medium between knowledge and ignorance.

Also:

What's the new vendor price for uncommon gems?

What are the new drop rates for uncommon and rare gems from prospecting?

What's your feeling on the economics of ore -> gems after the changes. Will rare gems hold their value, and ore rise in price because of the increased drop rate? Or will rare gems drop in price, leaving ore prices pretty much unchanged? Or some kind of mix of the two?

Another factor is that ore prices may well go up due to the increased difficulty of mining. So it probably makes sense to stockpile lots of adamantite ore.

Didn't check rare gems, or prospect any, but green gems were only vendoring for 1/4 as much (25 sp per).

Where do you get the epic gems from? Are they craftable? Or drop in heroics like the current ones?

Addition to the above:

There's designs available in good and rare qualities for the 'new' gems listed above as well. That is the Wicked, Veiled, Infused, Balanced, Great and Mystic ones.

And to answer stauros, all of them are craftable, though I'm not sure where any of the new designs come from. Or the new gems needed for the epic gems for that matter.

Thanks to Blizzard's wonderful mechanics of generating items, the "Epic" mp5 gems offer no increase over the current gems.

Current one: 9 heal/2 mp5
New one: 11 heal/2 mp5

I really wish that they'd re-look at this sort of thing, having the straight mp5 gems as an even value, so that halving it for the combo-gems doesn't result in rounding issues.

This may seem stupid, but are we *sure* the rounded gems are actually rounded and it isn't just a display issue? Could they internally be 2.5 mp5?

(It probably is stupid, but was just a thought.)

It's my understanding that all th epic cuts are from the Black Temple, going by what Tigole/Aeus have said. Also, by what they have said, there should be new rare cuts of existing gems, as well as the pearls. I'm not on the PTR or I would find out myself, but there should be a Topaz/Dawnstone/Nightseye with Spelldamage and Hit rating, for example.

He said that the gems were from Black Temple, I do not believe he mentioned the cuts.

Personally, I hope they are from rep vendors associated with those instances. The gems themselves are probably going to be in quite limited supply, making individual cuts rare seems like it would be very limiting, especially since people should choose a lower tier gem of a cut they want, rather than an epic cut that they don't want.

It is sort of interesting. These epic gems are actually a highlevel drop from raids that can be sold. In fact it is probably a better item for making money than previous raid mats like cores or BoE epics. People have an ongoing need for gems. Of course, this patch also greatly reduces the need for raids to generate income, since it appears consumable costs will go down ;-)

Can anyone give some info on changed Meta-gem requirements? I know the spirit-shard ones are broken atm. Crossing my fingers that we will get some usable Healer gems..

Jaggal Pearls are currently used for nothing.
After the patch they will have a few pretty good uses.
Do the math.

I'll do some math with my current gear (have three equipped)

Helm: 15 - Base 6, Enchant 7, Gem 2
Neck: 7 -Base 7
Shoulders: 9 - Base 0, Enchant 4, Bonus 1, Gem 4 (2 gems)
Back: 6 - Base 6
Chest: 14 - Base 8, Enchant 6
Wrist: 10 - Base 6, Enchant 4
Gloves: 7 -Base 7
Belt: 5 - Base 5
Legs: Base 0
Boots: 12 - Base 8, Enchant 4
Ring: 4 - Base 4
Ring: 6 - Base 6
Weapon: 8 - Base 8
Shield: 6 - Base 6

Total: Base 77, Enchant 25, Bonus 1, Gem 6 = 109 total

If we look at the gems, 3*1.5 = 4.5, rather than the 6 listed, so I think that it is a definite
2 rather than 1.5, which logic suggests it should be.

I'm not aware whether this was discussed in another JC thread.

I'm currently a JC/BS. The lure of the new Engineering helms have made me stockpile mats for 1-350 on the side. It appears the trinkets for JC don't have "requires Jewelcrafting on them." I'm talking about Dawnstone Crab, Nightseye Panther, and the Golden Hare. Has anyone on Test dropped JC to see if the trinkets still work without the profession? Or is there a stealth block.

I think blizzard needs to do a survey on what gems people put in their gear, they obviously dont realise what colours people stack. Making meta gem requirements that require someone to rebalanced their gear and drop their stats so they can gain or even lose some more is so stupid.

The requirements aren't too terrible if you use a lot of combo gems. The red/yellow is easily met with using topaz's. The blue is probably the harder requirement to meet, but even then if you're outfitted in more of the epic socketed gear than tier items you'd still be in pretty good shape. Nightseyes into blues of course and possibly reds if you're just shy.

Now the effects of metas are something I'd complain about(including the new ones), not the requirements. They could all use some buffing given the metaslot gear requirement, the mats needed, the cooldown required to transmute, and having access to a jewelcrafter with the appropriate recipe. Metas require a significant amount of effort, time and money for an item that is only a slight improvement for many classes over the spirit shard purchasable one.

It's fine for the more exotic effects from certain meta gems, but for all the Swift variatians, as well as the Power Earthstorm Diamond having higher requirements may mean they're simply not worth the bother. The biggest draw those two currently have is their ease of use; their requirements could go up if their effect did too, but if the requirements go up without the effects doing so, specific classes may just look at meta sockets as being wasted.

man i did the grind to consortium revered and thought i was done, looks like i have to go to exalted now. how many of these new cuts are going to be BoP's that you can farm? its really horrible having to buy every pattern off the AH or have myself or a guildy get lucky finding them.

I just transferred 400 adamantite ore to my jewelcrafter. I'll try to get copied to the ptr tonight to test prospecting rates.

Getting Consortium to revered was annoying, but not too horrible. I just killed ogres as I was mining in the caves in Nagrand. Knocking out 21k rep that way does not sound at all appealing, so I assume the new quests offer rep rewards. It would be nice if there was a non-heroic way to get instance rep, though.

It doesn't look there is a great yellow gem yet for an affliction or demo pvp warlock, assuming you'd want to get any of the socket bonuses on your gear. I'd love to be able to get a yellow/blue +spell hit/+sta gem, as spell hit above 3% is still useful in pvp to get around certain class talents. Even a craftable +resilience/+sta gem would be acceptable.
