What would you like to see in a guild website package?

Howdy folks,

I'm kinda-sorta thinking about putting together a guild website package using Django (same framework that the new Curse website is built on). I have a few features in mind, but I'm wondering what kinda stuff you -- the users -- would like to see on a prebuilt guild website package.

Note that this doesn't necessarily have to be WoW specific - I'd like to use my package for Warhammer when it comes out, so a lot of this stuff will be modular and flexible.

Anyway, here's my initial ideas basic featureset:
* News frontpage
* Wiki
* Forum
* Blogs
* Event Calendar
* Image Gallery
* File Gallery

WoW Specific:
* Item Links (def. pulled directly from the Armory)
* Character Profiles (most likely pulled directly from the Armory)
* Arena Team profiles/ranking
* ???

So, what would you guys like to see?

EDIT: Good suggestions so far, here's a list of ideas I like from the thread:
* DKP/attendance/loot tracking
* WoWWiki links
* Recruiting method other than open forum
* Guild bank addon integration
* Figuring out who has or hasn't read a post (may be technically challenging)
* Attunement/key tracking
* Attunement quest step tracking
* Character profiles as forum avatars
* WoWHead/Armory search modules
* Blue post RSS feed parser (I likely would pull down blue.cardplace.com/sinisterstrike)
* Existing PHP script importing (DKP trackers/etc)
* Gear Wishlist
* Tradeskill/Rare recipe tracking

Many people would be happy to see EQDKP or similar support... many sites display DKP in one way or another.

Some kind of recruiting form would probably be of good use to many guilds. We recently switched from a recruitment forum to a recruitment form with a SQL-database connection.

Some version of a guild bank might be useful, as well. There are several AddOns that will build a bank page, none of which I'm entirely happy with, but they're useful enough.

Or, more generally (since a lot of guilds choose not to use DKP), attendance and item tracking (who looted what when).

Hell, I'd like to be able to see which guild members have (have not) read a given post.

That would be awesome. I'd really like such a feature.

Yes! Additionally, list the steps still needed for those without the attunement/key.

I agree entirely, some sort of DKP management system.

Ditto on the RSS feed of blue posts. That sounds awesome.

One thing that's bugged me for years is usernames not matching character names. I don't think there's any reason to display the login name when someone posts -- just their character name.

How about shortcuts to link to wowwiki? Something like [ww]Argent Dawn[/ww] creating http://www.wowwiki.com/index.php/Argent_Dawn might be nifty.

If you're looking for that kind of thing, I know that Requiem over at www.uberguilds.org has designed hosting specifically for MMOs, and the people who use it seem to like it well enough.

Rerolls are the reason for login names not to match character names.

I'd like to see a few things:

1) easy integration into existing WoW PHP mods (PHPRaid(er), Roster, EQDKP) - a lot of guilds have a lot of information and content built into these mods and moving everything to a new package is not always an option unless there's a really robust import feature.

2) an event calendar with signups integrated into the forum login

3) a "wish list" where members can identify what upgrades they'd like

Anonymous application mechanism for forums (pretty common nowadays, but not exactly default for most forums).

Instance-key tracking.

Tradeskills/combine tracking

With regards to the tradeskills tracking, it would be much better to track actual rare recipies within the guild by who can craft what rather than just their tradeskill level. Being 375 of a tradeskill means practically nothing if you can only make vendor bought items. I think this is what Kytrarewn was getting at but I figured it wouldn't hurt to expand on it.

Home phone number of every healer.

Seriously, support by some form of third party mod, allowing you to browse forums and interact with website technology via an in-game browser, similar to the EVE Online browser, would be amazingly functional and handy for luring luddites into the habit of forum posting.

So like, support for an in game mod that pages your healers.

Our guild started TBC from scratch. This is what we currently have on our website:

Frontpage
Forums
Raid signups
Guild bank
DKP tracker

That's pretty much the essentials needed for any raiding guild, except maybe the guild bank.

What we would like and continue to develop:
Wiki
Some sort of tracker for gear/keys/attunements that we currently do via threads, and are a pain in the rear.

Ok, I'll update my post with a list of features I've seen that I like and which I think are feasible.

Things that I've seen in this thread so far which I'm either unsure of or that I know are technically challenging or impossible:
Seriously, support by some form of third party mod, allowing you to browse forums and interact with website technology via an in-game browser, similar to the EVE Online browser, would be amazingly functional and handy for luring luddites into the habit of forum posting.
This is pretty much technically impossible with the restrictions on addon input/output in WoW. There's no (legal) way to do this in a "live" fashion and having a desktop or javascript app which pulls in and spits out Lua SavedVariables files would be very inconvenient at best.

easy integration into existing WoW PHP mods (PHPRaid(er), Roster, EQDKP) - a lot of guilds have a lot of information and content built into these mods and moving everything to a new package is not always an option unless there's a really robust import feature.
Being a Python/Django programmer I would tend to stay as far away as possible from any sort of PHP script integration. With that being said, Django has very powerful database introspection features and I could conceivably provide import interfaces to various PHP-Script created databases.

Yes! Additionally, list the steps still needed for those without the attunement/key.
I could pretty easily set up a system for this, but I would likely not provide pre-made quest chains. You'd have to enter the steps yourself (or get entries made by someone else to import).

All in all some very good ideas, keep 'em comin.

What are your views on:
* Chat features?
* Levels of forum integration (should every content type have a forum and every content item have a thread? Make it optional?)
