Ok, I'll update my post with a list of features I've seen that I like and which I think are feasible.
Things that I've seen in this thread so far which I'm either unsure of or that I know are technically challenging or impossible:
Seriously, support by some form of third party mod, allowing you to browse forums and interact with website technology via an in-game browser, similar to the EVE Online browser, would be amazingly functional and handy for luring luddites into the habit of forum posting.
This is pretty much technically impossible with the restrictions on addon input/output in WoW. There's no (legal) way to do this in a "live" fashion and having a desktop or javascript app which pulls in and spits out Lua SavedVariables files would be very inconvenient at best.
easy integration into existing WoW PHP mods (PHPRaid(er), Roster, EQDKP) - a lot of guilds have a lot of information and content built into these mods and moving everything to a new package is not always an option unless there's a really robust import feature.
Being a Python/Django programmer I would tend to stay as far away as possible from any sort of PHP script integration. With that being said, Django has very powerful database introspection features and I could conceivably provide import interfaces to various PHP-Script created databases.
Yes! Additionally, list the steps still needed for those without the attunement/key.
I could pretty easily set up a system for this, but I would likely
not provide pre-made quest chains. You'd have to enter the steps yourself (or get entries made by someone else to import).
All in all some very good ideas, keep 'em comin.
What are your views on:
* Chat features?
* Levels of forum integration (should every content type have a forum and every content item have a thread? Make it optional?)
