PTR - Scheduling for serious BT runs

This thread is for serious progression guilds to recruit more members for any BT runs they may be doing that are open to outsiders. I already asked Gurgthock, and he said it was okay to post it, sorry to the people that don't want to read it.

Anyway, please do not respond to this thread if you are merely interested in a run. Leave the thread clean for raid leaders to post their runs that may have openings, or perhaps results of runs with tips/advice/etc. Any raid leaders posting here should leave contact information for interested players, so this thread can stay relatively clean.

Also, please note if you are interested in any run, you should refrain from even zoning into BT for 24 hrs prior to the run due to the numerous lockout bugs on the PTR.

That being said, <Risen> is hosting a run this weekend. It is an optional run for all of our members, hence me posting here. A lot of people will want their night off to do things outside of WoW. Personally, I'd like to see BT with a decent group. I expect perhaps 15ish <Risen> to show up. We will be raiding at 7pm Central time on alliance on the PvE server, Saturday evening. We currently are looking for any class I believe (maybe not druids...need to double check). And, just a little bragging, in hopes to rise interest, <Risen> was the 2nd guild in the world to kill KT, is currently at the same point of progression as every guild that is right behind Nihilum, led some of the first successful Naxx PTR runs (legit kills on pre-nerf Instructor and Anub), and has been in the top10 throughout the rest of WoW since BWL.

Now, what we want from people attending:
1. Vent. Don't have to talk, need to listen, but ability to talk sure helps.
2. Patience. We're on a PTR, officially bug testing, if you're going to get upset over 1 bug and log, please don't come.
3. Intelligence/Experience. They don't necessarily come together, but we want both ideally. Preferably we'd want players that killed KT, and have seen Vashj, perhaps that's too much to ask, but at least some SS experience is good. ;p
4. Ability to follow directions. We don't care if you are your guilds raid leader, if you come to our raid, you listen to us. The worst thing for a raid is people doing different things. If I came to your raid, I'd show you respect and follow your directions. I'm more than open to suggestions and advice, but when we engage, we want all 25 doing the same thing.

So, if you're interested, you have a few options:
1. Contact me ahead of time. If you are someone in a top guild, and can promise me you'll show up, I'll promise you a spot.
2. Show up at 7 central on Saturday. With the PTR raid lockout bugs/etc, who knows how many people won't be able to zone in. Worst case, you log on, check it out, realize we're full, and log off, losing 5 minutes of your life. If you want, we may allow people to idle in our vent during the raid, incase people dc/etc.

Contact info:
AIM: RisingFailure
Alleria (Alliance): Failure, Success
Ysondre (Horde): Iconoclast
PTR Realm (Alliance): Fails

If you show up on Saturday, join the channel "RisenBT" on the PTR.

I am definitely up for this idea. Raiding BT with an organized guild would make things run so much smoother. I'm on the PvE server and my name in there is Kaushikk.

^^^^Reading comprehension is overrated. No more of this please.^^^^

Checklist of things to transfer with you to the PTR

This seems the best place for this, the mods can feel free to move it if that is not the case.

Blizzard is sponsoring focused testing of Black Temple on the Public Test Realms. To help with this test phase they are providing the following:
  • T5 equivalent BoP items from Johnny McWeaksauce in Shattrath.
  • Flasks and mana/health potions are available from the Rulkster inside BT.
  • Attunement to Black Temple is available by purchasing the Medallion off Johnny.
They are not providing the following, and you should strive to aquire either the items or the materials to make them, before you transfer. Remember that you can pool resources with guildmates to assure that you have sufficient quantities, assuming you work out your transfer timing accordingly.
  • Gems for sockets. You should go look up your gearset from one of the other threads and determine what you will need to socket in each slot, and transfer over with enough gems to accomodate that. My personal advice is to bring sufficient gems to accomodate 2 sets of your preferred t5 tanking set if you are a tank, so that you can socket one with stamina, the other with avoidance.
  • Enchants for gear. Note this does not just mean enchants provided by enchanters, this also includes armor patches for pants and reputation rewards for hats/shoulders. You can hold the item or the mats, but have a plan for enchanting each slot.
  • Consumables beyond a single flask/healthpotion/manapotion. In particular, ironshield potions are not represented on the rulkster last I checked, nor are sprint potions, protection potions or sharpening/weight/poisons.
  • A ready supply of gold. Nothing on the test server is free, just trivially priced in relation to inflation. While you can stand around shat selling off the epics from one of the boxes, it's much easier to just transfer in with a few thousand gold on hand.
  • Any resist gear of note. If you've been meaning to put together NR or FrR or what have you, do it before you transfer. While you may not need it, you may want it.

Remember that you can select other class's boxes when picking up your gear box, this is particularly relevant for any classes with role diversity. As and example the druid box gives you t5 tokens, a feral weapon, and healer accessories, and you'll want the warrior accessories instead. Same deal for shadow priests, rob your local dps caster box. Same deal for elem shamans. etc etc etc

PTR raiding (like beta raiding) is incredibly frustrating and will involve many many many wipes. Particularly if you make good progress, you will be running into content that is (potentially) wildly untuned. Wildly untuned content in mmo's is not gruul 1.0 or vashj 1.0 it's content that just defies description and will make you want to punch things. Aran with conflag and mass poly during flamewreath. Prince with enfeeble and floating weapons. Do not participate if you are easily flustered our unwilling to accept this. Go in with an eye towards scientific discovery, instead of personal ego.

Lastly, the goal of the PTR, as with any large organized test, is to find and eliminate bugs, while providing feedback about tuning. This means that you should absolutely turn on /combatlog while you are raiding. (so you can include it in a bug report if applicable) You should absolutely take notes of "this feels unintended". You should be playing with an eye towards reporting anything that seems out of place, no matter how small. Keep this in the forefront of your head: Anything you do not report will go live, and will absolutely 100% irritate you at a later date. Don't count on anyone else on the PTR reporting anything.

Lastly, remember to be respectful to the other raiders and to raid leaders willing to lead raids on the PTR on their days off. Yelling "You suck" or "orcs rule" is a waste of time for all involved.

Salute! Bonne chance!

Update on <Risen>'s run tomorrow evening:

Our raid is basically full, excluding people not showing up that said they would/not being able to zone in/etc. I'm sure we'll do more runs at a future date (and I'm sure some other guilds will be looking at doing runs as well). Will post further updates here.

I highly advise transferring over some good NR gear, it will help a lot with the first boss in BT. Uncut or cut gems are also invaluable, as is raw enchant mats (large prismatics, greater planar, void crystals) and primals/motes for resist pots. You can pool together a bunch of gold, primals, gems, mats, etc onto one character with some friends, copy that character over 4 times, and then re-distribute back the mats on your original character.

If you are not yet exalted with Shattrah, Lower City, and Scryers/Aldors try to get that done pre-copy (or copy over aldor/scryer tokens a few times) as there is a new vendor that requires exalted with all 3, and sells new consumables.

Lastly keep track of who is the raid leader when you zone in and kill the first mob, the same person should organize the raid in subsequent days due to various issues with (hidden?) raidIDs currently on PTR. Doomwalker also tends to roam outside the entrance to BT, so its no one should be expecting summons (Johnny McWeaksauce in Shattrah can teleport you to BT).

You don't need to worry about bringing gold with you - you can simply sell all of the items from other classes T5 boxes from Johnny McWeaksauce and then go and do it again and again until you have a good supply to purchase whatever you need. Gold on the PTR is infinite right now.

Celebrity is currently organising a run to BT on the European Test-PvE realm, we were counting on a full raid but we seem to be a few players short. This is a bit short notice however if you happen to be browsing and happen to have nothing to do you can whisper "Kirrbob" ingame.

Requirements:

able to listen to Ventrilo
some SSC experience would be nice
and at least a couple of hours of time.

We are mainly looking for a couple dps classes (7 spots at the moment).
Again, I realise this is extremely short notice but its a good chance to get some testing done with an organised guild. Thanks!

Edit: Hunters and Mages preferably, 4 spots left

Edit: raid full, thanks

infinite gold is precisely what makes the AH useless on the PTR in terms of pimping your new loot. bring over the mats you need, minus any void crystals, which are free from any enchanter.

On the instance ID and other bugs, anybody figured out what exactly happens there and how to work around it if possible at all. We had the following 3 bugs:

*) Instance claimed to be set to heroic when it wasn't and noone being able to enter after the bug happened.
*) Other raid ID even though it doesn't show in /raidinfo
*) Select people getting ported back to HS location. Some right away, some after a few corpse runs. Once they start getting ported, they seem to always get ported and need to get replaced.

This means that first it takes some time to get a stable group, and after that you can still lose random people to the porting bug and need subbing. At least for the group I organised this was the case.

I've noticed the issue where after I had been in the same instance as my raid several times I suddenly get zoned into an empty one after a run-back and I'm unable to get back in their instance.

The only workaround I've found is logging on another copy of myself and then getting back in their instance.

I'd make sure everyone has duplicates of themselves(obviously this complicates things with enchants, etc. but it's so buggy right now you'll probably run into similar issues and be S.O.L without another character.)

Yeah forgot about the "alternative instance" thing. We had that one only once and I thought it'd be a variation of the "porting back to HS" bug.

A vendor with enchanting mats and quality gems would be huge for helping testing here... then working around some current bugs would be less of a juggling overhead. (And I've been overenthusiastic with copying so I'm stalled for transferring mats already).
