10% to a spell school is essentially the same as 10% to a spellbook tab for us, so I imagine you mean lowering the percentage as opposed to limiting it like Affliction.

Yeah, we're better off with regards to +hit, but it's completely useless to take the spell hit talents (or any other talent) out of context and compare them across classes for any other purpose than determining how much each respective class values spell hit.

I'm not saying an Arc/Fire mage should take Elem. Precision, just that they have the option if you really need it. And 3 talent points for 3% in addition to slight mana cost reduction is worth it - look at the popularity of the 10/48/3 build.

And yes, the old 6% hit on Fire/Frost WAS overpowered (especially since back then there was no viable Arcane spec) - not to mention raiding mages almost universally had another "free" 2% hit from ZG enchants.

For Shadow Priests, I meant it was 10% +hit for all the damage spells that spec is likely to use, unlike Mages and Warlocks, who in most cases will not get full value from their +hit talents. Deep Fire and Frost mages would get close, but they would still use Arcane Explosion, perhaps Arcane Blast, and utility spells such as sheep and counterspell.

The old elemental precision was great, no doubt (and I did like the ZG enchant, though now all DPS casters get a better version of it for their hats). It's just a perk of the mage class, I suppose, like how Warlocks get a +20% coefficient to two spells in their destruction tree, whilst mages get +16% to one for the same point cost. I know the mage/warlock rivalry is a strong one, so let's not get in to too deep a comparison, eh? =)

On that (vastly off topic) note, the greatest thing to defuse the mage/warlock jealousy I've found is to level the other class. My 'lock is only 40, but already I've died many many times when blink or frost nova would have saved me, or I've feared a mob into an add that sheeping wouldn't have done, so I've started to envy warlocks their pets (damned annoying things) and other advantages (slightly!) less.

Oh, I'm not making this into a Mage vs Warlock conversation (though on the off-note, I do have a mage that's currently at 63, who I made just to prove to myself that the warlock is a much more interesting DPS caster class =P), just stating that Mages have ways of getting +hit to every offensive spell they cast. As do Shadow Priests... and Elemental Shaman... and Balance Druids...

But honestly, I don't expect any changes, because I think it might end up being a too-big game balance change (Destruction-warlock DPS, already very high, will go up even more).

I agree that warlocks are a more interesting (and complex) class to play -- but spamming AB whilst watching television does have its advantages, especially on farm content you hate. Being fire spec in BWL was great as it meant I had to pay attention to what was happening 0.5 seconds less often than the frost mages!

I do agree that warlocks receiving further DPS buffs is probably not something anyone should be waiting for, though. Different classes get balanced through different means. Warlocks lack a +hit talent, but other classes lack talents that Warlocks have.

Anyway, thread hijack over. I do hope that the tailoring craftables get looked at in some way, to put them on an equal ilvl footing with the other craftables.

The New PTR Patch thread mentions that Primal Mooncloth has had its item levels raised (chest at 120).

Spellfire and Whitemend are listed on WoWhead as item level 105 still, and that's also the case for the Ruination, Spellstrike and Shadoweave items that my character copy on the PTR is wearing.

The question then is if the devs plan to raise item levels on the dps caster sets as well, or if they feel that as single-school damage they're already powerful enough even in the context of the across-the-board item level shift. /tinfoilhat

I would hope they at least improve the BoE craftables since they're generic dmg/healing and in no way out of non-tailors' reach. I guess we'll see later in the week.

Well, 2 pieces of primal mooncloth have received upgrades (chest 105->20, belt 105->115) but that could mean a lot of things. At least I wouldn't just change 2 pieces out of 9 set pieces and a few more non-set and leave the rest for another time.
