Combat Log Logging and Parsing
Simple question, which mod(s) do you use for recording your combat log, and which tool do you prefer to parse those logs with?
|
/combatlog ingame.
|
I recently started using AutoCL (from WWS) and quite like it. It is lightweight but nicely covers my needs. For tools, I upload to WoW Web Stats and love the resulting reports.
|
If you are looking something specific from your logs, you might want to use grep. It's a command-line tool and is also available to win32 platforms. Google and Wikipedia are your friends, as always.

You can use the AutoCL, which can be found on the WWS site:
http://www.lossendil.fr/serendipity/ Or you can use LoggerHead if you prefer ACE stuff. It also let's you configure in which zone you want to save you combatlog: http://www.wowace.com/wiki/LoggerHead Using AutoCL and /combatlog never caused any problems, even combat logs at around 50 MB never caused a drop in WoW's performance. The size was a problem for Windows' Editor though, so I started using Textpad: www.textpad.com |
EditPlus is another good text editor to manually go through combat logs.
|
You can also use clsaver to toggle logging on/off on specific zones.
http://www-en.curse-gaming.com/downl...ombat/clsaver/ Very lightweight addon that does the job. |
Is there any efficient way to filter out the healing Prayer of Mending did with WWS? I'm curious as to how much that adds up, but couldn't come up with anything other then searching + adding up the whole combat log, but that's not exactly something I wanna do after each raid.
|
WWS breaks down all health and mana gains so yes, you'll see exactly how much Prayer of Mending did.
|
Btw, had a talk with a buddy ingame. He said combatlog range could no longer be changed, while I was pretty sure this was still possible. Anyone who has the lowdown on what range is possible with logging? I've never cared much about parses, but thinking it could be fun to try out.
|
LoggerHead has several options to change the recorded range for different events, and Recap can set all of them to "max range".
I am not sure how much of a difference this makes, but usually the Recap data is surprisingly consistent with SWStats (even without Recap-Synchronisation). |
2.1 is when you won't be able to change the ranges.
|
Really, what will the default/max combat log range be in 2.1?

This thread probably belongs on the UI Interface forum. But in the way of a response:
SW_Unilog has the potential to be the best for tracking this as long as many people are using sw_stats for damage meters already. The information sorting could use a few tweaks but there is a lot in there. |
