So, which of all the nine classes has the best potential for DPS? I'm thinking something along the lines of Warlock with Shadowpriest synergy, or maybe a Warrior who doesn't have to worry about rage generation.

Single target/AoE?
Sustainability?
Synergy/Reliability on other classes?
Classes and Talents?

This is purley speculation for a little fun, and has no reflection on raids or classes because of that pesky thing called "getting aggro".

Highest single target DPS should be a rogue, unless its not.
Highest AE depends on if its point blank, taunted, at range, etc. Mages should do more in burst and at point blank, but warlocks more at range.

I mean you can't ask questions like this without looking at the big picture. A rogue is probably not top dps on a lot of fights because of movement.

Any class with instant-cast direct damage spells has the best burst DPS.

Reasoning: you don't get put into combat till damage is dealt.
<Any amount of damage> / <zero time elapsed> = OMG WTF INFINITE DPS.

Sam Da Man was always pretty entertaining. Once the RL pictures started to hit it got really creepy really fast though.

The question from a pure theory standpoint is pretty unimportant but kinda interesting I suppose. My wager would go to a Rogue in a Rogue / Hunter (TSA or FI? With a wolf at least) / Warrior (talented BS of course) / Enhance Shaman / LoTP Druid. Actually, the supporting ideal selfish buff group might be different than that of course. There is something to be said for two shaman!

It really is a silly question.

i say the arcane mage with 2 piece t5 wins in a group of 4 shadow priests.

An elemental shaman with 3 (and only 3) mobs with tons of health which you can always bounce CL between. This elemental shaman needs a shadowpriest or two, a boomkin, and another elemental shaman for good measure.

+400mp5, +11% crit (2 totems and 1 aura), +120 spell damage, Misery.. drool... interestingly, the tidewalker set bonus would likely be of great use for this.

Can a warlock fully dotting all 3 top this potential dps?

I forgot to mention, stacking enhancement shaman per mob would be nice as well for stormstrikes. Additionally, a Ret Paladin, would be nice.
