Fel Mana potion and healers

Let me just say I did do a search but I wasn't able to find anything, I guess mana is a popular word around here.

Does any healer use Fel mana potions, at all, or are they seen as strictly hunter/enhancement shaman potion? If you do use it, do you use it at the beginning, or near the end?

I use it for fights where I know I need every ounce of mana to spare and combined with Alchemist's Stone, it frequently fills 2/3rds of my mana pool. That being said, alchemist stones usually make it more than enough to use super pots, or even combats if I want to be a cheap bastard. Thus, the only times I use this is for progression learning. Once we start killing the boss, I switch back pretty quickly.

Edit: Enhancement shaman potion? Huh? I've never had major mana issues that couldn't be rectified with a smaller potion until SR was up again. Of course, I haven't been raiding as enhancement for two months so I can't speak for them.

I prefer fel manas to SMPs, but they're more expensive to make and hard to find up on AH.

I use these all the time aswell on my paladin, I usually bubble out of the second debuff if I dont need it for anything else that fight.

Did they change it? I remember the bubble not clearing the debuff, not that it's a huge issue.

Last prince kill I downed 1 fel mana and 1 super, I bubbled when the axes were on me, but I had no fel mana debuff on me when the fight ended, and our kills definatly don't take 15 minutes.

A fairly narrow thread, but I'll toss this in --

I was also reluctant to use any potion which had a negative side effect. But it's a guaranteed 3200 mana; on average, this is double what a Super Mana Potion will give me. I also have +1400 Healing - you're telling me I can keep on casting for another minute as if I had "only" +1350? Yes, please.

It's invaluable for hunters and enhance shamans since the debuff doesn't apply to any of their critical abilities.

Its useless for enhance shaman as we don't have mana issues. A haste potion is a far better use of that cooldown slot.

I don't use them mainly because I'm cheap. I really like to go for dreamless sleep potions. I wouldn't say that dreamless sleep is better but it does give the same amount of mana, and I can time it with my bangle and the time spent not casting results in a lot of extra mana that I gain from spirit as well while asleep.

As a priest who uses pots a lot, but is not an alchemist ... yes, these things are great. The loss of 50 or 100 healing from 1650 raid buffed is minimal, when traded for a guaranteed 3200 mana (instead of a low-end 1500 hit or so from a SMP).

I tend to use them more on our progression encounters -- Gruul and Magtheridon -- simply because they are too expensive to blow on regular content (and most of the time I don't have to).

The one fight that I do use them on in Karazhan is Illhoof. With our strat, the fight takes just long enough that mana is a real issue for the 2-3 healers. Anything I can do to get extra back is appreciated.

And while I'd love an Alchemist's Stone ... I'm not able to drop my two professions to get it. :-(

I often find myself worrying about emergency healing, especially since I primarily heal the MT, such that I can't find the time to get out of combat to use these effectively.

On a fairly random note:
Take 2 rogues, or get your one rogue to just sit and save energy for the demon chains while keeping wound poison up on illhoof. Fight goes from a 8 minute kill to a 4 minuite one. Easy your healers shouldnt have mana issues if the demon chains are being dealt with swiftly enough. A /target demon macro for all the raids dpsers will help hugely too.

Enhancement shamans also can do some pretty decent DPS on the chains. I had respecced to Enhancement from Elemental, and lucked out on a Decapitator drop from Prince. With that and a blue 70 axe, I was 35% of the damage on the chains alone, and it was the easiest Illhoof kill our guild has had I think. Only one shot as well, I believe.

I prefer using Super Mana pots, mostly because mana thistle is a pain to farm on my server at the moment, and very expensive to buy. However I do use Dreamless Sleep potions alot too.

If Mana Thistle was easier to get (rather than being 60g a stack on the AH) then I'd use Fel Mana pots a bit.
