Earthquake is a melee attack, I've dodged, parried etc them before too, and has always been this way as far as I know.

I didn't take any screenshots (I should have) but, I've never had this happen before and it was very odd. Was this introduced in 2.1 along with the LoS changes or has it always been that way?
It's always been there, I would guess it has a 5%~ chance to miss or something.

@Khlysti: I've never dodged/parried them, and I'm quite sure you cant.

It's not common, but it has happened to me in the past, I believe including prior to the 2.1 LoS changes as that was when we learned the fight.

Where does it get it's miss chance, though.. don't think it's melee based: 5%... seems too low for that to be true.

The GM didn't seem to have heard of either before.
This has been happening to me for a while aswell, very rarely though. I actually tried to figure out some plot why the 'invisble' mobs would help me in killing their visible counterparts.

Yeah, checked some logs, must have had a dodge on one of my attacks right as he missed me at some point and remembered it as dodging the quake. (really should check logs before saying something I remember)

It is blockable though, and after looking through a morogrim log ~2-3 misses per quake was normal 1 was frequent, didn't see any with 0 misses, at a very basic look it seems more like a 10% miss.

As pointed out, it's classed as a physical attack that can be dodged, parried or blocked. As a tank, the latter is actually a real annoyance on a fight where there's so much potential for high spikes. Lord knows I'd rather avoid a crush than mitigate a 3k hit that can't.

I've blocked and dodged it before. As well he has missed me. I've never parried it, though.

While Time-Lost Skettis are invisible when you don't have the Elixir of Shadows buff on you, they can still attack people. Blizzard solved this by giving them a 'hidden' faction. So when you don't have the buff on you, they're friendly (or higher) towards you. I'm guessing this friendly+ reputation is why they heal and buff you. I've had a second battleshout buff going plus getting multiple heals by them when grinding there. When you drink the Elixir of Shadows, you can see them AND the 'hidden' reputation is set to hated.

This is also why you often see 'green' corpses of Time-Lost Skettis lying around, when you don't have the buff on you.

The exact faction is found here: http://thottbot.com/s37678 called "Skettis Shadowy Arakkoa".

There are so many other monsters with abilities that you're friendly and above with that don't use abilities on you, why would these?

I wouldn't be able to say why without looking into Blizzards code. But I'm guessing it's a by-product of them being invisible, friendly towards you and are able to cast beneficial spells.

If you look at the Spectrecles buff on thottbot.com you'll see that the same combination is being used in Shadowmoon Valley with of Second Sight head pieces. I'm willing to bet that you could provoke the same kind of actions there, if you found a spirit that heals or buffs itself or other spirits.

Well, I'm thinking back on Azeroth where you had the bugbears. Weren't some of those able to cast heals or something? If that's the case, then it might be the invisibility factor.
