The Pattern for Boots of Blasting dropped in SSC for a guild on my server. I can't recall stats exactly, but I believe it was close to: ~30 stamina and intellect, ~18 spell hit rating, ~25 spell critical rating and ~38 spell damage. It dropped twice actually along with two druid staves as well. It seems like the drop rate off of trash has been raised considerably. I'll be getting those boots made soon, I'd say they're a must have for raiding mages.

PS - First post, just stumbled across these forums and I have to say that this forum is a huge relief compared to the official WoW forums.

Amongst the plethora of loot we had off vashj last nite we had this *extremely* nice plate dps belt,

apologies for the size

Same with the BoE plans that make BoP items. They're pretty much equivalent to the old Tier 1 BoE pieces, with the difference they're profession limited. That's also most likely why the BoE plans with BoP items need Primal Nethers, and not Nether Vortices. It makes them some of the best gear someone who can't raid but can craft can get.

Apparently some hunter on my server got the pattern for boots of utter darkness while doing skyguard quests. So the patterns that require primal nether could be world drops with a higher chance in raid instances.

Sadly you can't "get them made", you have to make them yourself.

Yeah I noticed that later last night after my post. =( I saw the Belt of Blasting was BoE so I assumed the Boots were as well. Oh well, I'll just save the mats so I can make em if the pattern drops for me when my guild gets to SSC.

The non-BoP patterns that make BoP items present an interesting quandary. It's not like an enchant recipe or something that once learned can be produced for as many sets of mats as you can provide. It can really only produce one item for one person, so it's more like a regular piece of loot than a recipe/formula/pattern. However, it's a piece of loot that you can sell to anyone.

I would anticipate these patterns costing some amount of DKP, with any surplus being sold.

One of the coolest things about the recipes is that both the BoP and BoE recipes provide ways to make money for the guild. We don't have any druid leatherworkers in the guild and got the BoP boot pattern, which happens not to be BoP itself. Within a few hours of it's posting it's already up to 2k g+ on the AH.

Haha, yeah laughed at that too. The extra gold (before discounts) the rune thread costs will really put a dent into my economy, so I'm just better off not getting it.

Also, just me or there a lot of leatherworking recipes compared to other profesions? Or maybe just luck of the rolls that more have been found.

I think that's just because Leatherworking is covering the widest range of gear with these patterns... Blacksmithing is covering Plate, Tailoring is covering Cloth, Leatherworking is covering Leather and Mail.

Logically this means that Leatherworking will get the most patterns.

Not to mention that there are more specs "needing" coverage in the leather/mail department, with 4 for leather (healing, melee dps, caster dps, tanking), and 3 for mail (caster dps, melee/ranged dps, healing), and mail would likely be four as well since ehancement shamans and hunters (survivors at least) won't really want all the same stats for the melee/ranged dps set. Blacksmithing and Tailoring are only covering 3 (tanking, melee dps, healing) and 2 (caster dps, healing) areas of gear in comparison.

I got the mail belt pattern from Al'ar, so it seems every boss in both zones can drop every pattern.

This thread gives the sense that patterns are rather common -- is this accurate?

We have gotten zero despite clearing every boss but Vashj twice since 2.1. So I wouldn't say common :-P

I got the black eagle belt pattern off some trash in TK, so apparently every mob has a small chance of dropping a pattern, not just bosses.

Clears since the patch have netted us about 5-7 patterns, so yeah, they drop a good amount of the time. Bosses seem to have a higher chance.

We've had 2 clears of SSC minus Vashj and 2 Void Reaver + trash kills since patch and have had 6 or 7 recipes drop. If you haven't been getting recipes, I'm guessing you're getting more Vortex/BOE's than we are?

We've gotten just under 10 Vortexes, I think, and 2 Spyglasses in that same period.

My bad. I meant trash epics, not BOE's. We've gotten 7 Vortexes and I think 3 trash epics. We do Hydross -> Tidewalker -> Karathress -> Leo -> Lurker without water walking so we actually end up clearing most of Lurker's trash twice, though.

Still, it's surprising that you guys have not gotten any recipes yet. At the rate everyone else seems to be getting them, I wouldn't expect that dry spell to continue that much longer.

Over the past two weeks in SSC, I think we've gotten 8-9 patterns, 5 spyglasses, 1 druid tanking staff, 1-2 of every other epic, but only 5 Nether Vortex over four nights. Really funny how people actually want to clear trash now, which is a good thing :P

Yep. It went from hell packs to good loot and herbs. Last night alone we had a pattern, 3 vortex, the dps neck and a spyglass as well as all the herbs and motes that come from herbalizing collosus. I'm trying to convince my raid leader to just clear all the packs rather than skip some by water walking because that usually ends up being more trouble than it's worth anyways.

We got http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30308 last night. Nice Elemental Shaman boots....except we have no Ele Shamans and Windshear Boots are a decent substitution (until you're hit-capped anyway). Also got some other patterns since 2.1, but they've been linked already
