Got mine last night. We decided to make it purely dkp, with priority to PvE-Raid useage. Pay full dkp for first Nether Vortex and get gauranteed all the rest you need.

As a side note... Dragonstrike in addition to the melee retuning from the patch has me sitting a swell margin above the rest of the raid for damage.

I don't think one is a "value" item and one is a luxury item. You could just as easily make the case that a weapon is a significant source of dps/tps for either a tank or a dps warrior, much more than just the base 8 dps upgrade. Weapons are usually the single most important driver of of a melee classes offensive output, much more so than armor. The reason the weapons cost more is because they have such a significant impact. Blazefury will last me until Black Temple (and possibly beyond as my DPS offhand) and is a strong disincentive for me to ever bid on other tanking weapons or dps offhands until we get to BT.

There's merits to either itemset and I don't think you can go wrong either way. I do think it's a good idea to reward your regular raiders first, so from that perspective I can see why some people would want it to involve DKP (maybe base it on total earned dkp for one BOP item, but keep the actual nethers free). It should be common sense that whoever gets the first nether gets the subsequent nethers until their item is crafted.

DKP makes a lot of sense from a fairness perspective, but because you really want to go with the "assured" method (no use bidding on each one, very ineffective distribution) the fact that each pattern requires a different amount rather mucks it up.

Probably best to just go with /random for primary PvE users first. In the end, it's probably not worth it to do otherwise.

You might want to impose some other guidelines about trial members, people who are already negative in DKP, or something like that...but I don't think I would bother doing bidding on the item itself.

We've kind of decided just to loot council them, starting with the main tank. Right now they're DKP free for one person at a time. Working well for us and everybody is fine with it, maybe we've just gotten really lucky, but we already have two weapons made and are on our third, and it's only been 3 days worth of trash. If it keeps up we expect to have most of what everyone wants done in a matter of weeks, including alts.

Eventually it will happen (not to say I would ever take it over anything remotely usable in PVE).
