Question for level 70 NE Druid Herbalist

I came across a whine thread in the WoW Druid forums complaining about druids picking herbs in flight form and just flying off, without having to shift. I know I can't do this as a tauren druid, I have always had to shift out of flight form to pick herbs. I noticed however in the responses to the thread that there were several NE druids defending the ability, and several tauren druids telling the OP that you can't pick herbs in flight form. Is NE flight form any different, or is the poster just full of shit?

I have a 70 NE druid, and I cannot pick herbs in flight form. Apparently you can do so if you have the epic flight form.

This applies only to the Epic flying form. Both Tauren and Nigh Elves can do this. Apparently you can mine as well.

I came into this thread assuming it was a parody of those threads people create that are way too specific. To answer your question, I thought something in this patch let Druids pick herbs in flight form, but after mentioning it on Vent yesterday I got a couple Druids saying they couldn't do it (we're alliance). So I don't know what to say. Maybe you can pick herbs in epic flight form? No clue.

EDIT: Beaten on the epic flight form twice. Guess I was right.

I can confirm this only applies to the epic flight form.

Yup. I can pick herbs in swift (epic) flight form, but was not able to in normal flight form.

The idea of a X doing Y with a Z in its A is certainly an amusing one, where:

X = Warrior
Y = Potion Drinking
Z = 2hander or sword/shield
A = Hands

X = Druid
Y = Talking
Z = Intelligble Words
A = Dr. Doolittle mouth

Its a fantasy game. Don't import reality into it, or import reality 100% across all classes, for all abilities.

Not true. I couldn't mine before in regular flight form and still can't with swift flight form.

Somewhat related; pre-2.1, I could skin while in Flight Form. It was awesome for confusing the heck out of people grinding in places like Nagrand and SMV.

Post-2.1, nada... the ability is gone. Both in normal Flight Form and after I got the Epic variant.

personally I find it silly enough they get flying mounts without cast time (big advantage for World PvP as you are immune to most movement alterning effects while in the air IE scatter shot etc)

all sillyness on a stick tho you can herb in epic flight form I've seen druids do it at netherwing ledge.

During beta druids were able to pick herbs while in normal flightform. This was later removed and it seems likely to me that herbing with the epic flightform will be removed as well.

Just found confirmation on this on the German forums:
Das Sammeln von Ressourcen und das Kürschnern von Tieren sollte weder in der normalen noch der epischen Flugform des Druiden möglich sein. Dies wird in einem zukünftigen Patch behoben werden und "Blümchen pflücken" in der Flugform wird dann nicht mehr möglich sein.
